Articulate Presenter & Office 2007
gabe Thursday, November 16, 2006
spacer | Comments (2)

spacer Microsoft just released to manufacturing (RTM) Office 2007, which includes PowerPoint 2007 and is expected to be available to the general public at the end of January 2007.

How does this release impact Articulate Presenter?

The short answer is that the Articulate Presenter System Requirements have not changed. We still recommend that you use -- and will only support -- PowerPoint 2000, PowerPoint 2002 (PowerPoint XP), or PowerPoint 2003.

We expect to support PowerPoint 2007 no later than the end of Q1 2007, following the January 2007 general public release date of Office 2007.

We're a fast-paced software company and pride ourselves at being on the cutting edge of technology, and the release of Office 2007 doesn't change that. Our product development team has been hard at work for months already thoroughly testing the compatibility of Articulate Presenter with beta releases of Office 2007.

We will do our best to communicate with all of you -- here on the Word of Mouth Blog, in our Community Forums, and via email update notifications to all licensees -- when we do officially begin supporting Office 2007.

In the meantime, using Presenter with PowerPoint 2007 is not recommended, but you may be able to use it to some degree. We've heard reports of varying success. If you do decide to use Presenter in PowerPoint 2007, look for it under the new Add-Ins menu.

Stay tuned. And if you have any specific questions about this announcement, please leave a comment here or submit a support case.

This is Part 8 of an 11-part series on Engage Interaction Types - More Than Meets the Eye.

One of the features inherent in the Engage FAQ interaction that makes it stand out from the others as a favorite among customers is its search functionality. Despite how much content you include in your FAQ interaction, your users can always find exactly what they're looking for.

Engage | Spotlight on FAQ Interaction

The Engage FAQ interaction provides a framework for presenting your content to your users in a horizontal, top-to-bottom layout. From standard Frequently Asked Questions for your organization to promoting an upcoming event, you can get really creative with how you leverage this flexible interaction type.

Here are some other ideas for how you might use the FAQ interaction:

  • A directory/biography of training personnel or instructor resources with photos or videos
  • A digital book or product training manual broken up by chapter or lesson
  • An outline of what's to be expected on each day of the upcoming retreat or ILT course
  • Additional or supporting HR resources for new employees
  • A guide of library rooms and the technology in each
  • An overview of how to set up a blog -- tool options, hosting considerations, etc.

This is Part 7 of an 11-part series on Engage Interaction Types - More Than Meets the Eye.

Images and video can often tell a story or teach a lesson more effectively than text alone can. When you have a collection of visual elements to present to your audience with minimal text, the Engage Media Tour interaction steps up.

Engage | Spotlight on Timeline Interaction

This is Part 6 of an 11-part series on Engage Interaction Types - More Than Meets the Eye.

Back in April when I first got my hands on a pre-release version of Engage, the interaction that immediately jumped out at me was the Timeline interaction. I first used it to create a brief history of my home, which included photos of all the improvements I'd made to my house since I bought it. I was having fun and was instantly hooked.

Although a history of Gabe's house will probably never be featured in your corporate training program, I share this story to illustrate the flexibility of the Timeline interaction.

Engage | Spotlight on Timeline Interaction

Whether it's outlining your corporate history or the schedule for a project plan, the Timeline can be used for anything that needs to mark dates or events on a continuum.

Here are some unique ways to use the Timeline interaction:

  • Month-by-month tasks for a particular job
  • Employee benefits enrollment key dates
  • Revision history for a particular product
  • A forward-looking product road map
  • A history of when your employees were hired
  • Staffing or resource projections
  • Equipment or hardware life cycle
  • Phases of the new employee training process

How have you used the Timeline interaction?
