IT’S MARDI GRAS!!!

This look is dramatic.  AND TOTALLY WEARABLE.  I LOVE it! Perfect for my Mardi Gras festivities of wishing I was in New Orleans (DAD!! DO YOU HEAR ME??? LET’S GO!!) and eating my invisible gumbo. This is too depressing!! I need a jazz band. STAT!!

No wonder I channeled this Mardi Gras inspired look!

I did a cut crease look using A BUNCH OF SUGARPILL COSMETICS!! YAY!!

Colors of note are:

Poison Plum Pressed Eyeshadow as crease color. ♥

Goldilux Loose Shadow on middle and outer corner of lid. ♥

And the lashes are also Sugarpill, in Baby Dewdrop. ♥

I did some highlighting using a shimmery ivory color, and used a black liner to line my eyes and waterline. You’ll also notice that I used a shimmery pink between the brow highlighter shade and the bold crease color.

Happy Mardi Gras!! :-)  No strange voodoo, ok? (normal voodoo, totally acceptable)

XOXO,

Colleen

ANTI-VALENTINE’S DAY MAKEUP

That’s right.  It’s not everyone’s favorite day of the year. I got you - I’m on your side.

Let’s do something vivid. No Pink. No burgundy and gold. No dreamy purple pretty smoky eyes.

No way.  Let’s drop some POW with SUGARPILL AWESOMENESS.

This look features Sugarpill’s loose shadow in Royal Sugar, and wow, this baby is effing outstanding.

I primed my entire lid with UDPP. Then I packed on Royal Sugar up to the crease. I used a taupe shade to blend it up to the brow bone-just to soften the edges, and then used a pale beige as my highlighter brow shade. Easy :-)  I lined eyes heavily with a great silky black eyeliner, and traced on some Royal Sugar to my lower lid as well- and sloppy is the new black, honey!

Lashes are Ardell Hotties.  Lips…♥…Doll Pink by Nyx.  I so love that color.

I hope your Valentine’s day is tolerable. Or happy. Or miserable.  Whatever you wish. :-)

I’ll be your Valentine.  I’ll send you a Twilight Valentine. Or Hello Kitty. Maybe Star Wars?  I’m your girl.

XOXO,

Colleen

CORPORATE GLAM

IF you are like me and have a corporate job Monday through Friday (UGH), when I wear makeup to work (RARELY…lately) THIS IS MY GO TO FAVORITE WORK LOOK OF THE CENTURY.

Colors can easily be exchanged for your skin tone or preference, but for me- the star of the show is MAC blush in Flirt and Tease that I use as my CREASE SHADOW. STUNNING.  It’s a deep mauve with sparkle and I love it, been using it for years.

This is how I do my eyes:

Prime the lid with fave primer. Fill in my brows with product of choice.  Then I apply a light vanilla shadow ALL over the lid and up to the brow bone.  I don’t want any colors to drag, a soft, blendable surface is ideal for this in my opinion.

Then apply your crease shadow. Blend that up and soften the edges up to the brow bone.  I use a softer pink to soften the line and to also make it look more gradual. Next I use an angled soft brush and use black shadow in the outer corners, blending to the outside crease.  Blend.  Blend some more.  Finish it up with a pop of pretty inner eyelid color.  My fave is Cover Girl in Champagne. Finally, liner and mascara. Bam.

Voila. Colleen’s favorite work look. Even though work is not my favorite.

Colleen

It’s the 1930’s up in here!  HEYYYY!!!

I was playing with my Urban Decay Naked2 palette, and inspiration hit.

I went with a super sultry eye, thin brows, and dark lips. Absolutely fierce and classic 30’s film makeup.

Eye colors used are noted in the palette picture, the lips are NYX in Black Cherry, and lashes are Ardell 28’s. Perfect!  What a (small and demure) way to recognize the GREAT DEPRESSION (Oh I got you, trust me) and PROHIBITION-  I’m reaching for my vodka as we speak. Shit was crazy back then, honey!

Breathe in.  Breathe out.  Thank heavens it’s 2012 and I don’t have to manufacture my moonshine in my tub!

XOXO,
Colleen

Glittery Green Eyes :-)

For this look I used some really pretty micro-glitter, so that means I’m going to have glitter everywhere, including my buttcrack, for the next two weeks, but that’s how it goes (it’s so true! It’s like sand!).

First, I applied foundation, concealer, powder- then primed my lids with UDPP and Nyx Jumbo Pencil in Yogurt.  Then I applied Nyx loose chrome powder in Grass Green.  I went with a defined crease-line using a dark green, for this I used Nyx in Exotic Green.  Then used a nice highlight shade under the brow and gently blended the lines together so they weren’t too harsh.

To apply the glitter, I padded on a sticky base to the lids, then with a flat brush tapped on the glitter.  Lined my eyes, put on some Red Cherry Lashes (415’s), contoured and blushed using the ELF palette in Blushed and Bronzed, and lips are lined with the best liner in the history of lip liner: Wet n’Wild 666, and Nyx Ceto lipstick (any frosty nude will work!) and some natural shade of gloss.

Hope you enjoy!

Colleen

Kick Ass Aquarium Eyes!

In celebration of my fish tank getting a makeover, I did this really fun look using the new colors of my aquarium (and some stunning PAPERSELF lashes!!!)

I’ve always been extremely inspired by aquatic life, I’m a diver, been to the bottom of the ocean many times (♥!) and each time is very special. This little tank I have here houses about 20 little friends, including a new red tail shark that we are very excited about!! (I tried to photo him, but he is SHY) I’ve had many tanks in my life, freshwater, salt, brackish, and I’m back to freshwater with this one. Towards the bottom of the picture you can see some of my giant spotted corys, and one of my albinos.  Sweetest peas ever! Super cuties!!

Anyway!! Sorry for rambling!!  I hope you like the makeup look. Inspiration can pop up on you when you aren’t expecting it :-)

On behalf of myself, Ivy (who helped), and my aquatic beauties, I hope you are having a peaceful, serene, blessed day.  My next post will include less commas.

xoxo,

Colleen and friends ♥

Oh Girl!  (Hope you were paying attention!)  Ha ha!!

This look is a really BOLD and dramatic look that I am going to call….

2012 PINK PARTY EYES!! (it’s still not too late to celebrate!)

All shadows used were from my Think Pink Coastal Scents Palette. Click on the picture for more info.

I played with some fun rhinestones, threw on a GINORMOUS pair of lashes (Red Cherry 304’s), rosied up my cheeks and applied Bare Minerals lip color in Rouge. It is definitely eye catching ;)

I hope you are having a beautiful day :-)

XOXO,
Colleen & Ivy

PEACOCK

Happy New Year everyone!!!

In celebration… I’m hoarding eyelashes!  And since my new shipment of absolutely breathtaking PAPERSELF lashes arrived, I’m doing this look.  Which is precious and creepy.  Just like me.

I am wearing 3 pairs of lashes for this look.  My good ‘ol Red Cherries in 138, and then 4 PAPERSELF peacock accent pieces. I chose some shimmery shadows that made me feel peacocky, then a light blush, and nude lips brought to you by Kat Von D in Celebutard.

For a look this artistic, it was most important to me to keep the focus on the eyes.

OH YEAH!! I’m wearing some amazing circle lenses that are a swirly purple black  (I KNOW!!! My head exploded too!!!) from pinkyparadise.com (there is currently a MAD sale going on!!)

I hope you enjoy!!

Happy New Year!! Be healthy and happy.

XOXO,

Colleen

P.S. My new years resolution:

Start more conversations with the phrase “OH GIRL, …”

LOL! :-)

SUPER BITCHY SMOKY EYE

…brought to you by THE HOLIDAYS.

It always seems like everything goes off without a hitch until a day or two before Christmas, and BAM everything turns into a systematic combustion of horridness.

It is this fury that has inspired this look.  Hopefully your holidays are going much better than mine!  (Please please!)

I used my Tokidoki palette in Polpettina. (It even has a compartment for my little bitchy friend…she has SPIKES!) I used LA Gun on the lid and blended it out. Polpettina was used as my blender shade to soften the edges, and then Candy Cane was the highlighter shade under the brow.  Adios was heavily applied in the out V and under lid.  Please note: EVERY LOOK I DO IS PRIMED WITH URBAN DECAY PRIMER POTION (and attitude).

Eyes were lined, lashes used are Red Cherry 138’s.

Blush was picked at random.  Light contouring also along the cheekbones, temple, and jaw.

And Yes.  Lips are Nyx, in the very appropriate MEDUSA.

Happy Holidays, (really)

xoxo,

C

P.S.  I had a great night with the family on Christmas evening, and that tamed the Bitchy.  For now. :)

Girl on fire.  Coal.  Burning embers.

This is for Katniss.  And District 12.  In the Capitol I would absolutely be understated.  But for tonight, this feels just right.

This is for The Hunger Games.  And my countdown to 3/23/12.

xoxo, C

P.S.  Ivy loves it. :)
