Taken from Charles P. Pierce’s essay on the newly enforced dress code for MLB press. It struck me because I, too, grew up in a world where I had a strictly enforced dress code (brown shoes, no jeans, necktie every day for four years of high school) and, as a professional writer and someone who always aspired to that profession, never understood the value in it. It was a strange measure of conformity, especially when you consider that a lot of my best writing these days is done in my boxers.

Saw these guys last night down at Palm Door. The band’s young, but they’re tight, and when they shake off their geeky shyness they actually sort of rock. Great to see Chase Weinacht treat his acoustic guitar like an SG, too.
