"The quantity and quality of connections that were made were far beyond any other conference I've been to, and the positive ramifications of those connections have continued to unfold over the past year... The next year is looking to be an extremely exciting time for Bitstrips, and InPlay was definitely a prime catalyst that helped get the ball rolling."

-- Jacob Blackstock, CEO/Creative Director, Bitstrips Inc.

"Thanks for organizing such a wonderful event!  You did a terrific job and I was glad to be a part of the event.  I hope you have received lots of positive feedback!  Next time I will need to spend a little more time exploring Toronto, which seemed like a terrific city."

-- Judy Perry, Research Manager, MIT Scheller Teacher Education Program

"I was lucky enough to give a talk and sit on a panel at the inaugural INplay event in 2010. The intimate venue, well organized and diverse program and great lineup of speakers and attendees made it very productive for me and a lot of fun. INplay 2011 should be even better!"

    -- Adrian Crook, Game Consultant

"Toronto has long been a world capital in children's TV.  The inaugural INplay demonstrated wonderfully that the digital industry there is energized with the same creativity, innovation, attention to quality and care for kids.  INplay is one of those rare meetings where you're constantly torn between the outstanding sessions and the great networking opportunities."

-- David Kleeman, President, American Center for Children and Media

"I thought it was great and didn’t feel like the first year at all! It will be outstanding next year!  I thought it really did bring interactive people together with TV people and touched upon issues that affect both groups."

-- Mary Bredin, VP/Development and Acquisitions, guru studio

"I'm left with the ridiculous impression, based on the IO folks I interacted with over the two days, that NOTHING went wrong. Which I know is impossible and is really a testament to each individual. Hats off to everyone at Interactive Ontario. You all made an important "first" event a successful, and positive, experience. And for that you deserve a HUGE THANK YOU!!!"

-- Steve Szigeti, PhD Candidate Graduate Fellow, Knowledge Media Design Institute Faculty of Information, University of Toronto

"Many thanks for the INplay conference. I really enjoyed my panel session and the event as a whole. Met lots of good people there and found Toronto to be a very welcoming place. Thanks again and well done organising such a fantastic event!"

-- David Glen, Executive Producer,  ABC Children's Multiplatform

INplay is Canada’s premiere kids content conference that focuses squarely on interactive media that is created for kids from Pre-School through to Tween. It is partly an examination of the marketplace, with a lot of time dedicated to innovation, education and public service.

Now in it’s third year, INplay will shine a spotlight on:

  • Technology for games and entertainment used in interdisciplinary learning
  • New kinds of play, focusing on merging immersive/interactive action-based digital and real-world activities
  • Social gaming and co-viewing with a focus on inter-generational play
  • Perspectives and insights into successes in the kids interactive industry
  • Responsible marketing and privacy issues
  • Sustainable business models including self-publishing
  • Putting interactive first
  • Experimentation
  • Curiosity
  • The importance of play within companies, plus lots more!

Put yourself into the shoes of your audience to make your IP better, more effective and more fun!

The conference will feature 3 major streams each covering a different dimension of working with properties for kids aged 2-12:

INplay's research and e-learning stream
Anyone operating in the kids sector needs to understand their audience. How do kids play? What choices do they make regarding engagement? What makes one activity fun over another? This stream will both provide attendees with insights into kids and how they relate to interactive properties, and consider research and cutting edge technology that will shape and direct the future of the sector. Speakers will include both key industry players and academic scholars whose research focus is on kids. The stream hopes to bridge the gap between business and scholarship and between academia and industry.

INplay's creativity and content stream
Creativity lies at the heart of the kids interactive industry. If not for wild imagination, crazy ideas and inspired products, we would never be able to reach out to children and connect with their sense of wonder and curiosity. Focused on the creativity and craft behind interactive properties for kids, this stream will draw upon industry leaders whose expertise contributed to the creation of innovative projects, characters, stories, technology and platforms for kids.  The discussions and presentations in this stream will fire the imagination!

INplay's business stream
Kids are starting to use interactive digital media at an increasingly young age and in increasing numbers.  This stream will delve into commercial opportunities, discussing what works and what doesn’t in a practical series of panels and debates.
