Lab

I work on some crazy stuff sometimes. I hope to document the most interesting of those projects on this page, for posterity if anything.

Asteroids game using the Impact engine

I made a simple asteroids game for Script Junkie to teach people how to use the HTML5 Impact game engine.

Rawkets

Rawkets is a massively multiplayer online space shooter game (a MMOSSG for short). By using the latest Web technologies, like HTML5 canvas and WebSockets, the game runs in the browser without the need for plugins like Adobe Flash.

MegaPhone sumo game

This stupidly addictive multiplayer game is interesting because you use your mobile phone keypad as the controller, while playing the game on a big screen. It was created as an experiment to see what could be done with the MegaPhone API, and was released into the wild at Meetdraw in Bournemouth.

Chroma Cam

This is the result of a moment of madness and the desire to do something interesting and visual using nothing but code. Chroma Cam is a webcam-based game created using ActionScript and Adobe Stratus that pits two Twitter users against each other in a mental colour-fuelled battle to the death. It's silly yet amazingly addictive. I created the ActionScript and Adobe Stratus integration for Chroma Cam.

Google balls logo

Once upon a time Google released a new version of their homepage with the logo constructed of little balls that move around with your mouse. It was pretty impressive, but for some reason they decided against using HTML5 canvas. I couldn't have this, so I spent that morning coding and recreated the logo using HTML5 canvas. It seemed to go down pretty well for some reason!

Twitter. Canvas. 10K.

An experiment taking my work with HTML5 canvas at Redweb to the next level. Each of the points you see is a Twitter user. Click on a point and you'll see more information about that user, you can also sort the users in different ways. All this in under 10KB of code. Awesome!

Measuring the Christmas spirit

This Arduino and PHP powered project measured the Christmas spirit on Twitter across the festive period and displayed the data in the physical world.

Factored

During my internship at Redweb I was asked to explore what can be achieved by using cutting-edge web technologies. In particular, I was asked to experiment with the new HTML5 canvas element. To add meaning to the experiment I used my research to produce an application for them, one which will provide an interactive wrapper to display their list of top considerations for building a website.
