Another teenager has self-immolated, and reportedly died, in Tibet

An 18-year-old lay person, named Nangdrol, set himself on fire at around 2pm (local time) in Barma Township, Dzamthang County, today.

The self-immolation took place near the Jonang Dzamthang monastery.

Chinese security personnel tried to take his body away but it is understood to have been removed to the monastery by the local monks.

Site of Chinese shooting

This is the latest such incident in the Ngaba region, site of most of the 20+ self-immolations which have taken place in Tibet since March last year.

The township is the same place where Chinese forces shot and killed a young Tibetan named Urgen in January. There are reports that people in the town are now living under severe restrictions.
