TEEBS: S P    C D Enchanting art works by the exciting and fresh visual and sound artist of Ardour and Collections 01 on BRAINFEEDER THE ROLL UP GALLERY AT PUBLIC WORKS 161 ERIE ST (@ MISSION), SAN FRANCISCO OPENING RECEPTION FRIDAY FEBRUARY 24, 2012/ 6-9PM

Teebs aka Mtendere Mandowa is simply put a painter of sound—a vibrant and shining light in both the audio and visual worlds and a rising star out of the Los Angeles kaleidoscope. His music releases on Brainfeeder, poetically described as "from hypnotic, dust-covered beats and languid daydreams to cascading shuffles and bright bursts of color", easily conjure up the imagery that you then so vividly experience in his paintings - iridescent, dreamlike art imbued with vibrant color, energy and shape.

Kristin Farr

Kristin Farr paints neon rainbow diamond magic. Taking popular, pop-colored, geometric shapes to another level, she infuses her paintings with good luck and good feelings. Recently, she's been researching "hex signs" found on 19th century Dutch barns, which were arguably used for either folk magic, or decoration. Kristin re-imagines the hypnotic patterns, rendering them in the florescent palette she is obsessed with. Through her work she aims to draw out some nostalgia or uncanny familiarity, using shapes and color combinations that could trigger a memory of a simpler time. For Culture Club, she has designed an installation of paintings from her "Magic Mountains" series, complete with two, comfortable "Hug Chairs" that can literally wrap their arms around you while you relax and enjoy the scenery and the days treats and delights.

SUSTAINABLE ART BY WINSLOW WARREN

Commonly discarded materials make up Winslow’s fractal works of art and furniture emphasizing the impact and scope of the waste generated daily; to understand the nature, beauty and value of the materials; to illustrate that as in nature waste = food. Be sure to take home a piece of Winslow’s art!
