Cancer is the name given to a range of specific illnesses resulting from one of our body’s own cells growing out of control. There are more than 200 different types of cancer, each with different causes and symptoms requiring different treatments.Trekstock encourages young people to make healthier lifestyle choices and we recognise the important role that this can potentially play in the prevention of illnesses such as cancer. As a charity, we are committed to providing young people with the relevant information that can help them establish better habits earlier, allowing these to be carried throughout adult life. Although childhood cancer is rare, it is the most common cause of death from illness in children aged 0-14.

Teenagers and young adults tend to develop a mixture of certain childhood and adult cancers. Hodgkin’s lymphoma is the third most common form of cancer in 15-29 year olds, accounting for around 15% of all cases and Trekstock is currently supporting Cancer Research UK’s work on Hodgkin’s lymphoma, you can find out more about our work here.

Thanks to major advances in treatment, around three quarters of children, teenagers and young adults with cancer are now successfully treated.
