Class A, AA, AAA & Minnesota State Championships  8am-5pm

YIM Grand Championships  7pm-10pm

Dear Band Director,

Youth in Music invites your marching band to participate in the 8th Annual Youth In Music Marching Band Championship. This event has become the premier event in the upper midwest.  The date for these events will be Saturday October 13, 2012 at the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome. The Metrodome is the premier stadium in the upper Midwest and will provide your students with a one-of-a-kind performance experience in a professional environment.

This championship event is open to any high school marching band. It will be a Championship format with a maximum of 30 bands in Session I.  Class A, Class AA and Class AAA Champions advance to Session II Grand Championships, followed by the next 7 highest scores.   Groups can participate in one of four classes (AAA, AA, A and Exhibition/Half-time Band).

Scholarships are awarded to 4 Outstanding Performers participating in YIM each and every year.  Look for applications in the fall.

Our goal is to provide your students with a first-rate performance opportunity! All bands will receive feedback from a qualified panel of national-level judges and educators.  This event will be a highlight of your students’ high school musical experience.  Be ready to obtain copyright permission for your fieldshow if you want to be included on this year’s DVD production which will be new and improved in HD format!

The first 30 bands to return completed application forms with the registration fee will be admitted into the YIM Championships.

The October 13th date is NOT an ACT testing date.

Rule books and past unit packets are available upon request.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call Brent Turner at 612.743.8760 or contact via e-mail at brent@youthinmusic.org.  I look forward to hearing from you about this exciting event.

Thank you for your consideration,
