Top IMDb’s Most-Viewed List of 2011

Posted by Becca with No Comments

Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, the stars of last year’s Oscar-winningBlack Swan, have placed first and second on the list of IMDb’s most searched for film stars.

The actors topped a list that included Johnny Depp, George Clooneyand Christian Bale, as well as rising stars Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone and Chris Hemsworth. Depp, who came third, had been top of the list for six of the last seven years.

Portman’s top ranking arrives in a year in which she won her first Oscar (best actress for Black Swan), gave birth to a son and starred in three movies – romantic comedy No Strings Attached, medieval spoof Your Highness and Kenneth Branagh’s comic book adaptation, Thor. Kunis, who received a Golden Globe nomination for her performance in Darren Aranofsky’s ballet melodrama, starred alongside Justin Timberlake inFriends with Benefits and is a long-term cast member on the hit animated comedy, Family Guy.

IMDb is the world’s largest film database, carrying information on more than four million actors and film-makers and attracting more than 110 million unique users a month. While an essential resource for film fans, the site recently came in for criticism from Hollywood’s actors’ guilds for revealing the age of their members. This followed a lawsuit filed by a 40-year-old Texan actress who claimed that the publication of her date of birth was adversely affecting her chances of being cast in younger roles.

IMDb’s most searched for actors: the top 10:

 1. Natalie Portman

2. Mila Kunis

3. Johnny Depp

4. Emma Stone

5. Chris Hemsworth

6. Olivia Wilde

7. Jennifer Lawrence

8. George Clooney

9. Ryan Gosling

10. Christian Bale

Marine Corps Ball Date

Sgt. Scott Moore thought he had a chance at a date with Mila Kunis, and with a little luck (and a helpful assist from the Web), his wish came true.

A woman of her word, the Hollywood hottie escorted Moore to his Marine Corps Ball over the weekend in Greenville, N.C., and, by all accounts, it was a night to remember.

Kunis declined to talk about their evening, preferring to turn the spotlight over to Moore. Here’s what the Marine had to say while making the rounds on the morning shows today.

“It was a blast, it was a great time. So yes, it exceeded my expectations,” Moore told cohost Robin Roberts on ABC’s Good Morning America.

Moore said he picked the Black Swan star up around 5:30 on Friday and the two spent approximately four hours together and even danced to “The Time of My Life” from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack, though they didn’t do any lifts thank you very much (his uniform’s a little too stiff for that!).

As for why Mila?

“We actually talked about this. I’ve seen a couple of her movies and she’s obviously a pretty girl so…I thought she’d be fun so I picked her,” commented Moore, calling her “just a normal girl.”

During an appearance on Today, the clearly thrilled Marine added that he and Kunis, whom he also called “very cool” and “down-to-earth,” spent most of the night hanging with his friends.  He also enjoyed “introducing her to the families [so] she could really see the sacrifice a lot of my guys made.”

On CBS’ The Early Show, Moore remarked that Mila was eager to know more about the annual occasion, which marks the founding of the Marine Corps in 1775.

“She had a lot of questions about the uniform and what to expect as far as the ceremony,” he said.

The sergeant also explained to her “that this year was extremely important to us and memorable to us because of the seven Marines and sailors we lost during our deployment.”

Moore was serving in Afghanistan when he posted a YouTube video in July asking the 28-year-old actress to the Marine Corps Ball. The vid went viral, tallying up more than four million views, and caught the attention of Kunis, who subsequently accepted. Soon, other marines followed suit with similar video invites, one of which went to Kunis’ Friends With Benefits costar Justin Timberlake, who also said yes.

When asked by Today‘s Al Roker if he thought Kunis would take him up on his offer, Moore figured he had nothing to lose.

“I can’t say I thought they were very high, but I obviously thought there was a chance so that’s why I put it on,” he said.

He did get one good parting gift, however: They promised to keep in touch.
