About the Blog -

The “Look Out, Knock Head!” blog was originally created to document my time studying abroad in China from August of 2009 through July of 2010.  The first blog was created using Windows Live, as I wasn’t sure which blogging services would be blocked in China.  MSN/Windows Messenger is really popular pretty much everywhere outside the United States, so I knew that I’d be okay.

The name came from a sign I saw in a restaurant which was translated into Engrish.  It was on the wall above a staircase, warning tall foreigners like myself to watch my head as I descended.  As funny as the translation is, signs like this one saved me from more than a couple headaches.

The original purpose of the blog was to write about a number of things, but I’ve recently decided to narrow it down to the pursuit of foreign language and everything entails.  That means the languages themselves, the cultures behind them, their countries of origin, and you can probably expect some discussions on linguistics and the theories surrounding learning languages.

Feedback is always welcome.  If you’re interested in contacting me for whatever reason, email me here.
