theStartup.eu, founded in April 2009, is a weblog that covers the european startup scene. It is focused on technology companies, web applications, social media, growth entrepreneurship and venture capital. We believe that Europe, even thought still far away from the Valley’s standards, has a huge potential and we’re here to help you discover it.
Who’s behind theStartup.eu?
Stefano Bernardi.
An Italo-French junior venture capitalist, working as an investment analyst at dPixel, the leading italian early-stage venture capital firm. I graduated in computer and software engineering in December 2009, lives in Milan, Italy, ans have a huge passion for internet startups and business venturing.
Founded several successful websites and in February 2008, while living in Madrid, Spain, I founded my first company: Hosteeo LLC.
Being very passionate about entrepreneurship and startups, and noticing the lack of information about the european startup scene, I would like to fill a hole, while trying to have as much fun as possible and learn a lot from the great people this community is made of. I just think there is a need for a pan-european blog, covering and giving the needed media exposure to european startups, entrepreneurs and events. I hope to spread and promote entrepreneurship to european internet enthusiasts. The ultimate goal is to reach and surpass the US entrepreneurial culture, but that needs much more than a blog. I’m just doing my part.
I enjoy travelling, DJing, photography, politics and loads of sports. Oh and Lost!
