How to become an FTO member?

An overview of the process for a company becoming a member of the Federation of Tour Operators.

The following is a list of requirements for becoming a member

  1. Full Membership is by invitation – FTO does not necessarily accept all applicants.

  2. Any potential entrant has to be approved by the existing membership – who will need to be satisfied that the applicant is an appropriate member, and as a minimum meets the core values set out below. 

  3. All members essentially share a set of core values. They are:

    • Able to recognise the benefit of working with others in the industry to achieve common objectives, which are of a non competitive nature, and willing to give appropriate attention and resource to achieving those objectives.
    • Customer focussed: i.e., will aim to prioritise product quality and service delivery.
    • A responsible business with effective implemented standards of health and safety, and a balanced approach to environmental issues.
    • Trades in a way that attempts to ensure long term financial stability.
  4. Full members are expected to achieve a minimum level of annual turnover in the region of 20 million, to ensure that they have appropriate resources to be involved in FTO.
