Sunday, March 18 2-3:30pm:Join local musician and teacher Phillips Saylor for this introduction to clawhammer banjo technique. This workshop will teach the basic right hand technique for playing clawhammer style, including basic rhythm and right hand movement. You will also learn different ways of holding the banjo for maximum comfort and noting efficiency. Several popular tunes and tunings will be demonstrated that are often played in area jams. While the focus of this workshop will be on the right hand, left hand fretting will also be used in several tunes. This workshop is appropriate for adult and teen beginners.
