No Bike Day today!

Today, the Bike and Talk Friendship Club aka BTFC is scheduled to take on an extreme route which is the Manipis- Toledo thing... For the love of all things good, I have no idea where we're going. LOL
But I don't think we're pushing through with the ride because it's raining right now, quite heavily actually. It's never a good idea to go biking when it rains and I don't think I should tell you why.

So this post tells you all of a new hobby of mine. Biking. I first started with a Clipper Peerless Foldie. It had 20" wheels and had my now trademark color white. I loved it so much but had to let go of it because in my heart, I wanted a mountain bike. I can't tell you how much more fun it is to own a mountain bike. But I owe it all to Vaughn/ Law.  I will refer to him to that name because I'm probably the only one in the world now (and Marvin) who calls him Vaughn, and everyone else just calls him Law. But before I tell you more about awesome mountain bikes and extremely exhausting trail biking, I have to tell you about foldies or folding bike.

Back in 2010, I saw a group of bikers on small bikes going round the city at night. And at that moment, the biker kid inside of me was awakened. It was an epiphany of sorts. I'd always known I'd ride a bike again and that was the perfect time to start doing it. Although it took a year as I bought my foldie in 2011 only. Back then, I was too stupid and embarrassed at the idea of me biking alone. Now I think to myself. Why would I be embarrassed to go bike? and I'd end up laughing at the idea.

So some time last year, Marvin and I bought our first Peerless bikes. I was at the verge of buying one for myself but at the very last minute convinced the sh*t out of Marvin to get another one so I can go with someone else while I biking, and to this day, that is the biggest regret of my life and Vaughn/Law would know why! Anyway, here's a picture of our first transformer bikes :)

And that's how Momo looked like when we asked Chad our groomer  to give him a puppy cut because we couldn't manage his matting.
Now both these bikes have been sold already, and they are both as loved by their new owners as I had loved them. I say I because I don't know if Marvin really loved that Crescent  foldie, but it served it's purpose. And to be honest, his bike looked more girly than mine so I liked that bike too, and he always had many complaints about it. Well, you know Marvin. If he cannot complain about everything in his life, he will die :)

Now, Marvin has a Dahon Jetstream P8. Here's what that looks like

That's the actual picture of his bike. But now, he's gotten it a few upgrades of which I will not say because I am a dummy on bikes. And I'm quite happy I'm illiterate on this and will not bother spending $1000 on bikes and whatever.
Marvin also built a full-suspension folding bike. Something that was supposed to be mine but I just couldn't live with that bike. It was too heavy and taking it out and putting it back inside our bike closet was such a chore I dreaded that I stopped biking for a while altogether. No, I won't post a picture of it. sheesh!

So after all the whining and bruising from that bike and a rescue from Vaughn/Law's Quickie
on a ride to the light house in Liloan (He asked me to trade bikes so I would not die after being left behind from everyone else haha!) I decided to get my very own mountain bike. Here's me and my new bike in a spot near Ayala

I love this photo. Here's the article where I was featured (charness ginamosness) in Vaughn/Law's blog: Training Day
In his post, he explains how I had to transition from a foldie to a mountain bike. Normal people usually won't have a problem, but if you've been reading my blog you'll know I am twice as special :)
So Please don't forget to check out his blog mymountainbikeadventures.wordpress.com
for really awesome articles about mountain biking and trail rides in Cebu.

So as I sit here, quite happy I won't have to tire myself out and embarrass myself while attempting to go extremely uphill biking again, I'll leave you with one more piece of information. I'm nobody's boss. I'm just a noob rider, noob traveller, noob agent, noob everything. Ciao!
