Flipbooks are probably one of the most creative and entertaining ways to view an image. In the earlier days of animation, a cartoonist drew a series of images showing a character’s “movement.” This was done on different sheets of paper that were stacked one on top of the other, with the images precise enough so that when you flipped through them at the right speed, the movement would be smooth or fluid enough.
With the advent of computer animation, the technology of portraying movement became digital. Although animators still use the pen-and-paper method, most movies now “draw” movements using animation software. Flipbooks on paper, though, never really made a total exit. In fact, they are now being used as a way to display and share digital photos. Today’s flipbooks have evolved as a combination of videos and still imagery.

The lighting and angle is more consistent, the action more fluid. People can act alone or in groups, in any manner they want, for the video. They can even dress up or choose their background.
