Registration Is Open!

Posted by Chris Skogen On January - 9 - 2012

2012 is here and we are excited to announce that registration for the Almanzo 100 and the Royal 162 has opened. Be sure and get your name on the list by following a few simple instructions. First, get a postcard (we're rather partial to the one over there). Second, fill it out with the correct info (found by clicking the title above). Third (and fourth), get a stamp on the card and drop it in the mail by January 31st. Fifth, wait patiently while we compile all of the data as it comes to us and then check back here to see if your name is on the list (spelled correctly we hope). That's pretty much all there is to it. Oh yeah, we'll announce race day specifics once we figure out how many riders we will have and so on. Keep it real.

Sample Post 2

A second sample post to see how everything will look and to see how far the body of text will move over toward the photo. I think it's working rather well, I'm just not certain as to the final layout.

Winning Gravel Bikes

Posted by Chris Skogen On 7:33 AM

One of the unique things about racing on gravel is the bikes.  Everything from road bikes to vintage 26" mountain bikes.  This is going to be a recurring post focused on the bikes that are ridden to gravel wins.  Sometimes there may be some commentary if there is something particularly out of the ordinary.  The following is the 2011 Almanzo Gentleman's Ride winner (team captain of the winning team) Jim Bell's Cannondale CAAD9...

Nothing but Aluminum cyclocross awesomeness here, plus some HED Ardennes.

This looks to be a cool series of posts. I am currently thinking of highlighting some of the new cross models out there that look like sweet gravel bikes, but I love seeing what shoes up at these races.

Last weekend I did a race in Michigan and some dude was on a utility bike.
