Pro Wrestling Superstars (PWS) show report
January 28, 2012
Los Angeles, Calif. at WrestleReunion
Report by Matt Massingham, PWTorch correspondent
(1) Adam Page vs. ? went to a No Contest. I didn't catch the name of Page's opponent, but Vader interrupted the opening match and attacked both wrestlers, leading to a No Contest.
Next was the Steiners vs. New Age Outlaws. Beforehand, Steiner cut a promo and someone threw a drink at him. Steiner also made an indecent remark. According to PWTorch specialist Mike Roe, Steiner's line was, "I don't need any Los Angeles f------ chanting my name!"
(2) New Age Outlaws (B.G. James & Kip James a/k/a Road Dogg & Billy Gunn) beat The Steiners (Rick & Scott Steiner) with Mick Foley as special referee. Outlaws won with a Fameasser on Scott.
(3) Fit Finlay beat Colt Cabana with the Celtic Cross. Good match on paper, but the crowd wasn't into it.
(4) Mikey Whipwreck & Tajiri beat Cedric Alexander & Caleb Konley. Whipwreck won with the Whippersnapper after Tajiri used the mist.
(5) Mascarita Dorada beat Demus 316 in a Lucha Minis match after a roll-up. Hard to describe this one.
(6) Kevin Steen beat Tommy Dreamer in an L.A. Street Fight. Steen won after a Swanton while Dreamer was on the guardrail. After the match, Steen was about to talk up Dreamer, but Raven interrupted and took out Dreamer with a DDT, re-visiting their 1990s ECW feud.
(7) Roderick Strong beat Jake Manning with a gutbuster/sick kick combination.
(8) World Hvt. champion Davey Richards beat Harry "D.H." Smith with a roll-up. Best match of the night. Afterward, Richards talked up Smith, who said fan chanting his name is better than hearing Michael Cole say his name.
(9) El Generico & Great Sasuke beat the Young Bucks (Nick & Matt Jackson). Generico won with a turnbuckle brainbuster. Generico's mask was half Generico/half Sasuke.
(10) The Godfather won the Legends Battle Royal, last eliminating Brutus Beefcake. Kevin Sullivan wrestled in his boxers, of note. Afterward, Godfather, who was the most popular wrestler today, cut his typical promo to close the show.
Overall, a decent show, but nothing special. Richards-Smith was the top match of the show.
