More on Terry Crews’s role on ‘The Newsroom’
Are We There Yet? star Terry Crews has landed an arc on Aaron Sorkin’s upcoming HBO series The Newsroom. The show, set behind the scenes, set behind the scenes of a cable enws network, stars Jeff Daniels as primetime anchor Will McAvoy. Crews will play Lonny, Will’s bodyguard and would-be-confidant or life coach of sorts. Actor and Old Spice spokesman Crews, repped by WME, next reprises his role in The Expendables 2.

5 Actors That Are Overdue For An Oscar Nomination
Jeff Daniels
Nomination-Worthy Roles: Tom Baxter/Gil Shepherd in “The Purple Rose Of Cairo”; Charles Driggs in “Something Wild”; Bill Johnson in “Pleasantville”; Bernard Berkman in “The Squid And The Whale”
Why Has He Never Been Nominated? Daniels has long been terminally underrated, thanks to the mostly comedic nature of his early roles, but the Golden Globes have long been on board, nominating Daniels three times over the years. His career-best so far, in Noah Baumbach’s “The Squid and the Whale,” was presumably too unlikable for the Academy, but it his turn there has led him to take on darker, more serious roles.
Chances Of A Future Nomination: Nothing has quite landed in the same way as the Baumbach film and we’re not sure his next big screen outing, as a heavy in Rian Johnson’s “Looper,” will be that part. But look for Emmys in the future — he’s leading Aaron Sorkin’s HBO series “The Newsroom,” and should gold follow that, he may get better movie roles down the road.Source
Joshua Marston to direct an episode of “The Newsroom”
In the meantime Marston is prepping “The Double Hour,” a psychological thriller and remake of the Italian noir by Giuseppe Capotondi, and also directing an episode the Aaron Sorkin HBO jump-off “The Newsroom.” As for dream projects, Marston noted, “I love science-fiction and have had various sci-fi projects that I’ve toyed with and would love to find one that would get to the big screen.”

Newsroom to premiere June 24?
Looks like Newsroom has an unconfirmed premiere date – June 24th, after Tru Blood!
Newsroom to be called “Atlantis Cable News,”
Say hello to “Atlantis Cable News,” or “ACN” for short.
ACN is the fictional cable news channel at the heart of Aaron Sorkin‘s upcoming HBO drama “The Newsroom,” slated to debut this Summer.
The program may exist in Sorkin’s universe, but that universe shares many similarities with our own. When “The Newsroom” debuts, episodes will focus around actual recent news events. The original pilot script for the program was about the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, and one episode currently in development is about the death of Osama bin Laden, our source says.
