Riesel Sieve is currently under development, as is PerlBOINC. PerlBOINC is an attempt to implement BOINC server system in Perl programming language.

2006-10-28 13:17:40 UTC   Optimized Sieve Applications Now Available
We have now published a list of EXE files that are official optimized sieve applications depending upon CPU features - CMOV5, CMOV7, SSE2, or non-CMOV. The basic application, CMOV6, is most common, which is why we have ran it so far.

These applications will speed up the WU processing, allowing a user to complete more WU per day, and in turn increasing their overall production/score. For details on how to install and the EXE downloads, please see this forum thread: Official Optimized Clients

An update has been made to the BOINC->phpBB bridge. On signup, users will now be automatically added to the phpBB table, preventing the need to sign up at the forums or use the bridge put in place yesterday.

Users who signed up on 10/21/06 or earlier will need to use the bridge from their "Your Account" page. Any user signing up 10/22/06 or later will automatically be added to phpBB and can sign in with their username and password.

As you may know, we use phpBB, rather than BOINC's built in forum, as our forum software. Until now, a user had to sign up for BOINC and then for our forums. While not a 100%, on-registration synchronization of the BOINC and phpBB databases, we have taken a step in the right direction.

Instead of two separate signups now, you can send over your username and password from the BOINC pages. Click on "Your Account" and then on "phpBB User Sync", and you will be able to set up your phpBB account. One thing to note is that you have to reenter all the information because 1) phpBB allows only 25-character usernames and 2) the passwords are stored differently.

All other phpBB settings will need to be done throug the phpBB profile pages, however, as the script is not that advanced. If you have any questions, comments, or troubles, please let us know.

2006-10-15 23:56:56 UTC   Information for Users Receiving a Misconfigured Host Email
For anyone that receives a "Misconfigured Host" email that refers you to the site for more info, the fix is simple. Your host was attached during the period where our DNS was wrong, so your project md5 key is wrong. To correct this, please detach from the project and reattach. Thank you for your help!

2006-10-08 18:13:27 UTC   Problems Attaching New Hosts
New hosts in the last 7 days have downloaded a blank key file for the Riesel Sieve server. This means that no matter how many times the client tries to download the application files, the client will receive a checksum error and the WU will fail. If you have attached a host to the project any time in October AND cannot successfully download the application files, please detach the host from the project.

Once you have detached, please check that your DNS is properly resolving download.rieselsieve.com, and reattach. You should be able to download all files at that point. If you continue to have problems, please visit our forums.
