Many of our volunteers serve as foster families for our homeless frogs, and this rescue would not survive without them! They open their homes and hearts to strange dogs, learn to love them, teach them how to live in a family, then find them a home we hope will love them for the rest of their froggy lives.
But fostering is not the only way to volunteer! One of the most important ways to volunteer is transporting foster dogs from point A to point B. Sometimes we have a foster dog in one region who needs a foster home, but we have no foster homes available in that region. When that happens, we call on our transporters to help move the foster.
Transporters are volunteers who offer their time and vehicles and gas money to move Frenchies from place to place. Usually the transport is 2-3 hours and it involves meeting up with another volunteer.
The only requirement for transporting a foster dog is a valid driver's license and either a crate or a seatbelt/harness contraption to keep the foster secure. Crate or harness can be provided for our transporters, if necessary.
If you have been thinking about volunteering for FBRN, but you've hung back because you can't foster, please consider volunteering for us as a transport volunteer! You get to meet the dogs and meet other volunteers, and you really make a contribution to the fosters' progress to their forever homes. For more information on how to volunteer, please check out our volunteering page.
FBRN Grads Love Winter Sports!
Sure, Huskies and Malamutes and Saint Bernards get a lot of press for their mushing and life-saving and what have you when winter rolls around, but did you know some of our Frenchies are serious Winter Sports enthusiasts?
Ernie demonstrates Snow Fetch!
Rosie and Debbie enjoy Synchronous Ice Dancing!
Lolo is a Steeplechaser par excellence!
FBRN Grad Brook takes the baton from Ellie in a relay race somewhere in The Great White North.
Not all of our Frenchies are athletes, of course. Here is Lexi practicing her truffling skills. Great to see such dedication!
Regardless of their enthusiasm for outdoor exercise, all our chilly frogdogs agree with Mancha: After some time in the snow and cold, there is nothing like a bit of apres-ski lounging in front of the fire.
We hope you are enjoying the dead of winter with your Frenchie! Remember that in very cold areas or for long outings, Frenchies should have a coat--and possibly boots--to protect them from frostbite and chilly temps.

Burgyn is babylove! She snuggles, kisses, and cries a little when you leave, just as any baby would. She loves to be cradled in your arms and to sleep with her pink blankie in the people bed. Burgyn is deaf, but that doesn’t keep her from doing all the great things any Frenchie can do, including traveling with her family. She loves to go! If you are thinking of expanding your family, read Burgyn’s bio.
