The name ‘Jovers’ came from my online alias/nickname, Jovie. A couple of my close internet friends would change the name up a bit, one of which was Jovers. It’s something that has kind of always stuck with me. I used it for usernames among other things, and thought it would be a perfect name for my site. It, in a way, is my name and it also shows how important those friends I had were and how much I cherished (and still cherish) their friendship. <3
Past Websites
Red Bananas: This was my first real website. I created it in January of 2009 to serve solely as a personal blog. I was still getting into the whole “blog scene” and Red Bananas was just not taking off. I was having trouble with my host site and I didn’t feel like it was really going anywhere, so I closed it in August 2009.
Jovers: After I had closed Red Bananas, I started to long to blog again, to have a little space on the internet that I could call my own. So, in October 2009, I created Jovers. Jovers was again just for the purpose of a blog, and I added a little other personal content, like poems and book reviews for the (few) visitors. Jovers really seemed to be doing well, I had finally created a personal blog that I was proud of. Then of course, life kicked in with school and personal issues, and I neglected the site and it slowly just crashed and burned.
Beach-Bum: In late 2010, after almost a year of not blogging, I longed again. I plunged right in with Beach-Bum, and this was the most successful of all my sites. It really took off, but I didn’t like weebly.com and I didn’t like the name and I just didn’t feel like I could do much. I wanted to move up in the blogging world, I wanted to get my own domain or at least a subdomain. That’s when Jamie offered to host me on her site, and I accepted.
Jovers.Hobscotch.com: I accepted Jamie’s offer and I decided to go back to the name Jovers, something that really described me. Jamie was a wonderful host and I stayed with her for about four months until she decided to close her site.
I then decided that it was time that I got my own domain. I had learned quite a bit and I thought I was finally ready. I looked around for a bit for a reliable host and came to the fabulous Georgina. And the rest, they say, is history.
