Good interview questions are just as important as good answers... says Art MoCo's editor Sabine, "I like the 'tell me a story' because it is so general that any designer or artist can adapt it to his or her situation and then dazzle us with something quite personal.".

We featured a chatty interview with Minneapolis artist Amy Rice who brings us well-dressed fish and ladies whose guests don’t show up. And when she told us about some of her favorite artists, we decided to take a closer look throughout the week.

Ida Pearle is one such artist who creates simple and effective compositions with bits of coloured paper. Pearle’s collages are striking narratives that mirror the various seasons and holidays of the year.

Scott Musgrave draws and paints a world filled with wacky animals with big eyes and a whole lot of attitude. They may not all be cute and cuddly, but they are definitely worth getting to know.

Seonna Hong’s illustrations and paintings reflect her work as an animator and her characters range from typical schoolgirls of the you’re-not-my-best-friend- anymore ilk to happy space kitties.

And Amy Rice sure made our week when she introduced us to the work of Amy Winfrey, an animator from UCLA whose cartoon series Making Fiends has us whining the theme song at all hours. Slightly warped and very excellent.

It’s a… wood pellet stove, more precisely a heater from Shimotani and designer Satoshi Seki. You literally set up this colorful fireplace in any room, and fire it up with eco-friendly wood pellets made from "waste chips and sawdust that would otherwise be discarded".
