Mastermind is a simple and colorful guessing game that focuses on deductive reasoning. This brain game features a simple premise, easy controls, and relatively quick gameplay.
The goal of Mastermind is to guess the sequence of four colors. This brain game gives you ten tries to correctly guess the sequence. If you fail to input the correct sequence at the end of then guesses, then you will lose. There is no time limit to worry about in this guessing game, nor are there multiple levels. Each time you play, a new four-color sequence is generated for you to guess.
To guess the sequences in this brain game, click and drag colored balls into their positions. When you are satisfied with your guess, click the OK button. Previous guesses are displayed below your current guess, so you do not make the mistake of guessing the same sequence twice. An indicator to the right of your guess indicates how correct you are. A white ball indicates the correct color in the correct position, while a black ball indicates a correct color in an incorrect position.
Mastermind is an exercise in deductive reasoning. Using the indicators to the right, you can weed out which colored balls are not a part of the sequence, which balls need to be moved, and which balls can stay in the same position. Deductive reasoning falls under the categories of problem-solving and decision making.
Mastermind is a brain game that has a great concept, but there are bugs in the indicators at right. Since the indicators do not work as they should, the decision making process will be more difficult since information is sketchy. The heuristic of trial-and-error may have to be employed instead of true deductive reasoning. This is most unfortunate, since Mastermind could have been the perfect brain game for a light mental workout!
