spacer Next Show: Nov 17th Union Pool, NYC and Nov 18th M-Room Phila.

monday november 13th
Holy crap, it's here. After a Chinese Democracy-like delay, we got in the shipment of CDs and we're releasing the album this Friday (in Brooklyn) and Saturday (Philadelphia). The home game is at the M-Room Nov 18th, and the away game is at Union Pool Nov 17th. Artanker Convoy and Black Taj will be at both the NYC and Phila. shows, and Standing Nudes will be only at the NYC show.

The release party on Saturday is also our dear friends, Plain Parade's last booked show ever. So if you don't come to see us, please be there to wish Maria and Sara well on their new endeavors and to say thanks for bringing in bands that otherwise would have never gotten to Philadelphia.

friday june 30th
We're nearing the final stages of mixing most of the tracks for the album. After that they gotta be mastered and then made and then we have an actual album. It's been a long time coming but it's on its way.

Now that we're in the thick of summer, most people are taking off things like clothes, pounds and work. We're doing the opposite, we're adding to the Dragon City family. Bringing in some synth and keys and other un-worldly sounds is Michael from probably our favorite local band, Lee, Jae Won. In the next few weeks we're gettin together and re-learning and retooling our material to get it the way it's always meant to be heard. Anyway, as always, keep checking the little flower up top for some early and limited edition mixes.

wednesday june 21st
We're playing a super secret show in NYC this Friday, the 23rd. It's at Club Midway, which had previously been called Scenic. It's on Avenue B right between 2nd and 3rd Streets. Also on the bill are The Sleeping Kings of Iona and Elika

So yeah, if you're gonna be in NYC this Friday, come by and check us out... chances are we'll be debuting some tracks from the upcoming album.

monday may 8th
Thanks to everyone that came to the Kurt Vile show, especially Mr. Vile who did a performance that would bring even the beardiest hipster to their knees.

Next we're heading back to the Khyber with Film School, who you may recall had all that hub-bub about not only their gear, but the entire van stolen right from their hotel parking lot. Find out what was stolen here, and still keep any eye out on eBay and the local music stores for their stuff. They've recopued their losses and are coming back in full force to right what's been wrong (in a 'sonicly' speaking way). Also on the bill is Margot and the Nuclear So and So's [Artemis Records]and The End of Radio

monday may 1st
You probably know by now who the special guest for this Saturday's show is. If not, it's Lilys. One of our most favorite bands on the planet. The main reason for the show is Kurt Vile will be releasing his CD there. Check out his myspace page and listen to some sampling of his music to get an idea, of, well you know, his music. It'll be a good time, bring the kids.

Oh yeah, and yesterday we recorded the final two tracks for our album. What does that mean? Well it means that all of it is pretty much done. We're just gonna do some overdubs and finish up mixing these two tracks and then it'll be a matter of time until we fully release the whole thing. From what we have so far, we're pretty sure that you'll be happy that we've taken a little longer to get it done. It's time to start getting excited.

monday april 17th
So we got this Thrilladelphia thing going on next week. It's gonna be a pretty spectacular show. Lots of good bands at the Khyber kicking off Thrilladelphia fest. Come on out, we wrote a new song that we'll probably debut there. Depending on how it goes, it's may be the only time you'll get to hear it before our full length album comes out.

Speaking of the new full length, I've posted some MP3s of some of the rough mixes that we've come up with. These are still in progress and not mastered at all, so they'll be different by the time a real album is out. Since we probably won't make any more copies if the 'All About Rabbits' EP, we've put MP3s of almost the whole thing on-line, so if you slept on it, now's your chance to make it up.
PS, big show is in the works, details will be released soon...

monday march 6th
Just in case you forget, this Thursday (3/9) we're playing the final night of Levy's (One Little Indian Records) residency at the Manhattan Room. Our new favorite band, The Bad News Bats, is playing too. Seriously, what else is there to do on a Thursday night? Might as well come see some awesometastical bands play before they're all big and famous and you hafta pay $35 to see them at the Electric Factory or the TLA. So if you think about it, you're playing less than 1/4 the price that you'll hafta pay in a few years, seriuosly getting ahead of inflation's curve.

monday february 27th
The podcast is up. Click on the photo, taken by Seth, to go to the website to download it. You could use iTunes to subscribe to his podcast which is better I guess, but I dunno, figure it out for yourself.

friday february 24th
Great show tomorrow (Saturday) at the Khyber. Us, Ariel Pink, Psychic Ills, Steven Ward James and Belong. What's so special about this show? Well, we are going to be Ariel Pink's backing band for one night only. He'll do his solo thing (complete with beat boxing or mouth drums) and then we'll jump on stage and do a full on rock out assault of some of his classic tunes. Not a show to be missed.

We're doing a Podcast this week! What's a podcast? I dunno, I think it's like one of those radio programs that you'd record when you were a kid with your portable microphone and cassette recorder. But now it's done with iPods (or another portable digital audio device, but you know you really should have an iPod) and ProTools or Cubase or whatever. We'll be discussing our hopes and fears as well as our future plans, but probably not. We'll prolly just be fuckin around and talking up our show with Ariel Pink.

Keep an eye on the wHYMe podcast at www.whymepodcast.org/. It'll be up soon I guess, just keep your iPod tuned in to it.

tuesday february 17th
We got an RSS feed now! Get updates even quicker than never. Dragon City is slowly reaching into the next (read: current) millenium. Click here to copy and paste the link into your reader. It's kinda really dumb now, but whatever, at least you don't hafta do anything more than what you usually do.

wednesday january 18th
If any of you are in the area, Siren Records in Doylestown still has a few of our records left in stock. There's not many so get 'em while you can. I also told the guy to drop the price on them, so now they're a little cheaper.

We're also in New York next Friday, Feb 3rd at the Cake Shop so come and see one of our few shows outside the 215 while you can.

Also, this Saturday, DC side project King Kong Ding Dong will be down in Delaware at the 4W5 Cafe in Wilmington with some other really good bands.

Update! Two more acts announced for the Khyber show on Feb 20 somethingth.

Wednesday december 21st

A new show has been added. For those of you in New York, you know who you are, we'll be up there on Jan 11th. It's a Wednesday, but whatever, we're on at EIGHT o'clock (8:00PM) [note the change in time] right after happy hour so there's no excuses like "oh I hafta get up for work tomorrow" or "What am I gonna wear?" The answers: we'll be done by bedtime and who cares if you can't watch 'One Tree Hill' or 'E-Ring'; and two, wear watchoo got on from work.

Look at 'To Here Knows When' for more info

UPDATE! Two more shows added, one more in NYC and the other's a home game in Philadelphia.

Wednesday November 23th
The "Songs from the Sixth Borough" compilation is out now and available for purchase or to stream from Apollo Audio's website. Check it out, there's really good tunes on there. For more information on the compilation and some press from a couple different places, go to Plain Parade's website and get with it.

And again, congratulations on Plain Parade's 3rd anniversery, without them, we wouldn't be here today.

Monday November 7th
OK, we got a confirmation on a show at the Khyber, Friday dec 2nd. Seems like it's gonna be a big one. The Notekillers will be there. If you don't know them, they're been around since the 70s and really trippy. Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth is probably their biggest fan in the entire world. Also on the bill are Wilderness [Jagjaguwar Records] and San Serac.

We're also making really good progress on a full length album. Yeah, I know, we've been saying that for a long time now, but this time we're serious. Each of the 15 tracks is anywhere from 80-95% done. If you can't wait that long, we've put a song on a compilation being put out by a record label in Spain. Not sure when it's gonna come out, but there is a track on there from us that will be pretty indicative of what the album will be sounding like.
that's it for now...

Wednesday November 2nd
Thanks to everyone who came to the Halloween Show.
If you haven't noticed yet, there's some new MP3s to download. Click the speaker/flower to listen online or to download them. Two shows in the months ahead are in the process of getting confirmed so watch the site for details on them.

Thursday October 13th
Halloweekend show
So we're playing on Oct. 29th at a huge Halloween blowout. We're all dressing up and learning the songs from the "All About Rabbits" EP, Chris doesn't know how to play them so he'll be playing bass. It's all ages so if you're under 21 and want to go deaf, you finally have the perfect opportunity to do so. On the bill is Bishop Allen, The Foxymorons from Texas, hometown boys Walker Lundee, Jetpack from Nashville, and Raisch/Hirsch which features Matt and Daryl of the Future Tips. In between sets Doug Wallen from the Philly Weekly and Maria T. of WPRB and Plain Parade will be providing the spooky music. There's also a half-pipe in the back so bring your skateboards, rollerblades and bikes.
If you really want to be a pal, download our flier and pass 'em out.

the only way to buy stuff
Ok, so here at Dragon City headquarters, we've pretty much exhausted our supply of the new EP. As of now the places that you have the best chance of picking up "All About Rabbits" or any of our previous recordings is at A.K.A. Music on north 2nd in Old City, Spaceboy Records on South Street and The Marvelous at 208 S. 40th Street in University City.
I'll probably make another run of the "All About Rabbits" CDs sometime in the future, but for right now, you've gotta get the albums at the three new places. Don't forget about Siren Records in Doylestown, go to Starbucks (shut-up, you know you like it) and then to Siren and peruse their shelves.

So next time you see us, which may not be for a while, we'll most likely have a brand spanking new CD for you to zone out to. As always, check the website here or at myspace for samples of what we're doing.

Monday, August 15th, 2005
Good news! You know how on WPRB they say "All the songs you hear tonight can be found at Siren Records in Doylestown" and then you go and say to the clerk "Hello sir or madam, might I purchase a copy of Dragon City's newest recording?" and then he says "Huh? Never heard of them, you can check the $1.99 value bin" and you check it and nothings there? Well, not any more. As of Sunday you can pick up a copy of our new EP, All About Rabbits; our split 7" with the Perfection!sts, Welcome; and the Get Outta Philly compilation. Since previously you can only get a copy at our shows and now that we're playing a limited number of shows, you can go there any time and pick up a copy. We're also working on setting up a Paypal account so you can order stuff online and have it shipped to your door. That and we're pulling together stuff for a possible fan club type of deal where you can get all of our stuff for a low low price, but we'll see if that happens.

oh yeah, I forgot (really, Josh said, "hey do you know we're playing Friday night?", and I said "No but I do now") we're playing this Friday night at the Manhattan Room with Diagram (Formerly Menocu), Sleeping Kings of Iona and Rarebirds. This is gonna be a fun night because Rifle Nice is also playing at the Millcreek Tavern, if you didn't know, Jim and Steve are the rythm line for them too. I think Josh is still in Rarebirds, but I'm not sure. So as of right now, Chris is the only one not playing in two bands that night. So it'll be interesting to see if Jim and Steve can load out and make it from West Philly to Northern Liberties and play a show in such a short amount of time.
I have a feeling this will turn out like one of those really hard missions in Grand Theft Auto...

see ya Friday.

Tuesday, August 9th, 2005
Time for summer vacation! We're taking some time off to work on the forthcoming full length album and to go camping, fishing and dancing. If you wanna come with us, drop an e-mail to one or all of us to get more info on one of our upcoming trips, or if you want to let us in on some great fishing holes or camping spots you can do that too.

thanks for coming to the EP release show, check out what the Philly Weekly had to say about "All about Rabbits." Special thank to all the other bands, they were all pretty much the nicest guys we've ever met.

Thursday, June 27th, 2005
The EP for the show is coming along well. The artwork is in final stages of production and the songs should be mixed and mastered by early next week. The first few demos are going out in the next day or two which means that all you kids with DSL or cable modems will probably be able to get various mixes of the songs from Napster or Kazaa or Bittorrent or whatever it is you use, by this weekend. I forget how many are on it, but there's at least 3 songs of at least 7 minutes. I don't think any of these will go on to the full length album, maaaaaaybe one will, so get this while you can before it goes out of production (meaning I don't feel like making more).

We've added a show in NYC next week at the Lit Lounge. We'll be warming up our new songs and new arrangements of other songs for the Philadelphia show. If you're around the East Village part of NY stop by and say hello and if we have a copy or two of the EP on hand, we might just give you one.

Thursday, June 21st, 2005
We're taking it easy for a little bit to mix our record and put a short run EP together for our show with Oneida on August 5th. Watch the website for updates and sampling of tracks from it. Thanks for everyone who came to the show at Black Betty's, your show of support brightened up an otherwise dismal experience there.

Friday, June 17th, 2005
It's confirmed, we're playing in Brooklyn on June 28th. Black Betty's with home-town pals, This Radiant Boy.

In other news, we're going to go into seclusion for a while and write more material and tidy up the tracks from our upcoming album. We're only playing two or three more times before we dissappear for a while, so if you haven't been to a show lately, now is the time to get off your ass and see us live.

This weekend we're gonna hole ourselves up in Steve's parent's house and write and record some songs for a limited run EP that will either be given away or sold at one of our later shows. Probably a show in very early August at the Khyber. Details about this show are still on the way...

Friday, May 27th, 2005
New pictures from our show at 4W5 cafe. Thanks for coming. You can now download the first two EPs that we put out. Click the flowery speaker thingy in the top right corner to get a hold of them.
If you haven't seen it yet, we're gonna be playing in New Hope, land of antiques and freaks. Come out to John and Peter's to see us and our very fun friends Audiophyle, maybe we'll go to a head shop with you or something.

Friday, May 13th, 2005
We were a little slow on it, but we now have a myspace page in addition to this one. Check it out and be our friend at www.myspace.com/dragoncity.
There's still plenty to look at here though.

Thursday, May 5th, 2005
Well, the Thrilladelphia thing was great, thanks to Jeff for setting it up andthe bands who played with us, especially Lee, Jae Won. I think they're our new favorite people ever. The mixes from the performance should be out fairly soon on CD that you can pick up from Figurehead Productions's website when it's finished. We'll be getting a raw copy of our whole set, I think, and if you ask real nice, maybe we'll let you listen to it.

Look at the bottom for our next upcoming show. If you're too lazy to use the scroll wheel on your mouse, I'll just tell you anyway, Saturday march 14th at the Fire with Palomar, PA Muzzleloader and Aderbat. come see us and hang out.

Two days after that we'll be in Delaware, home of tax-free shopping for this wierd and crazy expeirimental thing. I think what's happening is that there'll be a DJ playing before us and then we play a set, then another DJ and then we play a second set. The whole vibe is gonna be really trancy and stonerfied so we're gonna bump up the 'spaciness' of our songs for one night, and one night only before we head into the next phase of Dragon City. What's the next phase? You'll have to wait and see.

Thursday, April 7th, 2005
I know you have other things you might be thinking of doing, but clear your date book on 4/20 because Dragon City is kicking off the second annual Thrilladelphia Festival at the Khyber. Well, there is one show before this one, but this is the official jump off for it. Were gonna be playing with LEE, JAE-WON, One Star Hotel and Elevator Parade.
I hear Elevator Parade is going in a totally different direction now and I for one am looking forward to what Rocco has in store for that night. Move your eyes and mouse to the left and click on the shows link for links to their respective websites and to get more information.

In other news, unless you've talked to one of us directly, then you probably don't know that we're going to be on a compilation called "Get Outta Philly." Its being put out by Tick Tick Tick Records and will have other local bands The Bad News Bats, Bad Penny, The Blow Goes, The Chance, Econocaste, Helen Back & the Str8 Razors, Jukebox Zeros, Thee Minks, The Misteriosos, The Party Wreckers and Toothless George & his One Man Band. I personally dont remember which song well be putting on it but it is relatively new and pretty much ready for pressing. As soon as I talk to Josh Ill put an update as to what itll be. Check out the Tick Tick Tick Records website and get some more info about whats happening.

In other website news, I cleaned up the pictures page and added some shots from the record release party we had a while back. I also added a few pictures from when we played Dr. Cosmo's radio show on WPRB last December. If you have any pictures of us that you took at a show or while hanging out at a party, e-mail one of us and we'll get them up there if you want.
if you click on the "how to sound like Dragon City" page there's an neat picture of our pedal boards and thingys that tell what each one is. It' really stupid but I got bored at work and needed something to do.

In case you didnt already know, the 7" release show was a huge success. We set a new record at Tritone bringing out 165 people. Thanks to the other bands, especially the Perfectionists, who were very patient with our procrastination. We still have about 100 records left, so if you want one email us booking@dragoncitymusic.com for details. We also have t-shirts featuring a drawing of a box of kittens designed and screen printed by Steve. They cost 5 dollars. In other news, I am going to set an official release date for the album. I plan on finishing by late June, and a release show is in the works with Menocu and another Philly band that will remain nameless until they are confirmed. Its going to be HUGE. In the mean time check our MP3 section for some demo downloads from the album. Im thinking the album will just be one long track...what do you think about that? I also want to know where I can get those cool eco-pack cd covers made. Any suggestions? Anyways, thats it...thanks for your support. josh

Record Release news!

How long have you waited for us to put something out? That long huh? Well guess what, we're doing it and doing it and I'm not talkin' mini-CDs, CD-Rs or CDs of any sort.

March 12th we're having a record release party for the split 7" with the Perfection!sts. One other band to be announced will be playing the show also, we have an idea of who it is but we're not telling you yet.
Update: Yah Mos Def and Fuck With The Bull Get The Horns have been confirmed as openers.
The show will be hosted by our friends, biggest supporters and people we owe a whole heck of a lot to, Plain Parade.

We're taking a near-complete track from out upcoming full-length and putting it on there and the Perfection!sts wrote a song just for this. We haven't figured who will be the A side or the B side yet, being the A side is cool because you're on there first and it's perceived as 'your' record, but being on the B side is just as good because it's like you're the secret song or rarity. We'll just have to leave that for someone else to decide.

Even better than new music being put out on record is that it's on red vinyl. We got some big help from Extracurricular Records and were able to get this done lickety split and splurge a little more. Everyone who comes to the record release show gets a limited edition copy of the record. After the show you get something different. Not different songs, but different art-work and packaging, maybe a sticker or a receipt from Guitar Center or Ikea or something.

So once this record comes out, we can put some real press clippings on the website instead of the messages we get on Myspace or things people say when we're playing soccer. In the next day or two, I'll put some MP3s of what we've done so far. These won't be finished products by any mean, but something that you can listen to and get an idea of where we're going. What you hear on the actual album will be tons better than what you get here.

Thursday, December 9th, 2004
HI everyone, Its been a while since anything has been written and that is because I have become a total antisocial freak. Im not saying that I wont remain a recluse, but I will update this Blaaahg, or whatever the hell it is. Check this... ...weve been busy playing a lot of shows. We played at Rexs and Bam Margera was there. It turns out he is kind of a jerk, but not quite as bad as the sound man, who ruined everything. I was really sick for two weeks after that show, coughing and sleeping. During these dark days I was able to record quite a lot for the album that many people believe will never exist. This is not true. It sounds really cool, especially if you're on drugs. Every song gently fades into the next without those pesky 2 seconds of silence to tell you that the next song is starting. But dont worry, if you're not into "albums" and you just want to hear the hits, you will be able to shuffle through the songs. If you like My Bloody Valentine, and the Swirlies, and stuff like that this is right up your alley. Sont get excited though, the wait is not over. We will be going back to record drums for a few newer songs that are important to the flow of the album. So, Im thinking February. Besides, its probably your fault that it isnt finished. If our fan base was larger maybe we wouldnt have to deal with pesky distractions like work and school. but dont worry, there is some... GOOD NEWS. We will be releasing a seven inch split with the Perfectionists sometime soon with one of the album tracks on it. It will be a mix unique to the 7" and is sure to be a collectors item. Thanks for reading this long, and if you can think of a good reason for me to leave my room...give me a call your pal josh

As you know the website is up and running. If you didn't know, look in your address bar and you will know. As the winter months start coming, this can only mean one thing. New music! Remember when we recorded earlier in the year? With colder weather ahead and the need to stay indoors, the album is getting done. A few tracks are already completed and there's a couple more that need a little more tweaking. So again, sit tight and hold on, you won't be dissapointed.

We've now created a mailing list so you can stay informed of all our shows, upcoming releases and our social calendar so you can come hang with us. Go to the Contact page and then down to the bottom, fill it out and join in. Easy as that.

Just a programming note on this Friday's event. The Nein have cancelled their performance due to unforseen medical emergency. I hope they get better soon. Thanks to everyone who came to the Rock and Roll Carnival. We had a blast and I'm sure everyone else there did too. Unfortunately there were no clowns but there was this awesome girl on stilts herding those driving down Walnut St. to come in. Fantastic, see you Friday.

Monday, September 27th, 2004
Great news from the people over at Plain Parade. It seems as though the band Medium, Medium has regrouped and is now jumping over the pond and playing a limited amount of U.S. shows. Medium Medium helped facilitate the bridge from new wave to post-punk with a bleak music that was light on melody, yet heavy on funk-influenced rhythms with throbbing bass. The Gang of Four serve as the easiest reference point to their sound, though they're not pointedly political in their lyrics, as the Gang of Four were.
Man, I can't wait for this show. It's gonna sell out, real quick so if you're planning on being there, DO NOT try to be cool and get there late. You will only be disappointed by not being able to get in. Sure you can hear us from down the block, but you won't see our shiny new guitars and wonderful stage show.
So, yeah, it'll be good. We also have that Rock and Roll Carnival thing coming up. From what I hear, there'll be a moonbounce, scary clowns roaming around (balloon animals could follow them) and like ten bands. Serious fun brought to you by our friends at Figurehead Productions. Check out our links page for their website and also samples of live recorded songs from the "Thrilladelphia Music Fest." We're on there but I don't think ours is up there yet. Just go buy the CD and listen to it, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Hang with us. Stuff got screwed up with our own fancy page so we're gonna use this for a little bit until we get squared away at www.dragoncitymusic.com. Until that time, bookmark this page and we'll have the other site up and running shortly.

Thursday, September 2nd, 2004
If you haven't noticed alread, the new look of the website is pretty much here. I need to tweak it some more but this'll be what it looks like for the most part. I added in a guestbook so we can see who loves us and who doesn't (emphasis on the latter). We're playing tonight at the Khyber so you should all come over. We're playing guys who were in "June of '44" and I think Franklin. It'll be a good way to start off this labor day weekend.
I'm trying to hook up a mailing list so you can get the latest news on Dragon City and where we might be playing next. One more list to clutter your in-box. If you are over crowded, e-mail chris and he may be able to hook you up with a G-mail account. That's all for now, see you at the Khyber tonight.

Monday, June 28th, 2004
Well, the most of the images for the website have been scanned in and created so the site should start looking pretty fresh soon. We're playing a bunch of shows in the coming months, mostly festival type of things (Farm Fest, Slaskifest, Rocktoberfest) as well as at a bunch of more traditional Philly venues. Things are going good with the album and final mixes, it should be ready soon, you'll just have to sit tight to get the final product.

In other recording news, each of our solo albums are going along quite nicely as well. If you haven't heard, each Dragon City member is doing a solo album.
"Rap Tyme" are French rappers who live at the bottom of the ocean.
"Chopper Dave" has a concept album with varied musical styles about movies that he likes.
"Stab Your Way to Freedom" is the (I think) third installment of 'Teenage Hearthrob'
There's another one that hasn't really had much production on it yet, so it's still in the works.

We're hoping to package these four solo albums into a single compilation, kinda like what Outkast did. It'll be ready in another month or so. until then, you'll just have to dream about it.

Website additions

I'm bringing the website up to date and beefing it up with more content and easier to use. We'll also be getting our own domain name so we'll soon have to say goodbye to geocities.com and their fine hosting abilities, including the annoying images that pop up on the top right corners. Actually if you're reading this than the construction has been completed. If you've somehow gotten here, go away. What you see now is classified and sucks. Please, really, don't look here anymore. I'm quite embarrassed as to how the page looks now.

Radio show postponed / more shows

Jon Solomons radio show was postponed, so if you would have missed it last week, you have a second chance to hear us on the radio. It will air Wednesday April 22nd on 103.3 WPRB. If you dont live REALLY close to the city, give yourself an extra ten minutes before it starts to do the following:
-Get 1 spool of speaker wire and attach it to your radio's antenna.
-Wrap a child in aluminum foil.
-Connect speaker wire to child.
-Tell child to climb on to your roof.
If there is a thunder storm then disregard that. You can always download the MP3's afterwards on WPRB's website.
We also have a show on May 22nd at the Balcony.
The album is coming along at a very slow pace. I have 1 song and two small transistion peices almost finished. Unfortunately, every time I think something is done I convince myself that it can sound "more awesome". If you are indeed waiting, then continue to do so.

Recording and writing to no one

This past weekend we finally began working on our album at Steves house. Our friend Joe helped us record by giving us lots of suggestions and ideas, as well as doing a large portion of the engneering. As a result of two super long recording session, we have finished recording the drums, bass, and some guitars. This is just "the tip of the iceberg" though. Upon completion the rough tracks make us sound like a loud rock band, but not a whole lot more than that. LOTS of wierd guitars, backwards sample stuff, many vocal harmonies, and various other melodic content will hopefully take our sound beyond the boring rock band sound. But, for now all I can say is that the drums sound pretty cool. I was getting a little discouraged when listening to it today, but I think if we all keep our ears open, we'll be able to make a pretty cool piece of music. Our Jon Solomon radio show apearance has been postponed indefinitely. We could possibly do it tommorow, but my voice is pretty show so we're rescheduling. Maybe this way we can prepare something extra special. Optimism is neato. No one is going to read this, but since I'm excited to tell people about this stuff, Ill type it anyway. At least this way my friends can choose whether or not they want to hear this stuff, instead of me just babbling about it.

Recent goings on in Dragon City

For starters we would like to thank everyone for coming to see us last weekend at Doc Watsons. it was our last sow there ever and that is sort of sad. We kind of honed our live performance there without being threatened by the promoters to "stop sucking". So thanks Sara and Maria for that. Also, we played as a Dead Milkmen cover band at our friends St Patricks day party with Chris being Rodney Anonymous. It was quite funny to see him ham it up. If you're bummed that you missed it just yell "VFW" at the end of every song at our next show and we'll hook it up. A moment of silence for Dave Blood..............................

With that being said, heres some good news. April is a good month for DC. We'll be playing at Bryn Mawr college on the 2nd. Hopefully well meet some smart Ivy League girls who will pay our bills. Since Jim and Chris are already "taken" that means that Steve and I will have a better chance with our prospective sugar mommas. However, Steve is a heart throb so maybe my chances are greatly reduced. We are playing with This Radiant Boy, who are our pals. It will be a lot of fun. Special thanks to Jamie from TRB for getting us the show, she is the bees knees. Then on the 6th we will be recording a live set for Jon Solomons radio show on WPRB. That should be pretty fresh. This is a good way to get MP3s of some unreleased songs that will be on the upcoming album. Hopefully we'll be making some progress on that next month also. Joe and Dave from Menocu will be giving us a hand to get Jims drums recorded. We have about 3 "transition pieces" recorded and they sound pretty cool. They sound "pull out the bong" cool. Dont get offended, we know what you kids do when you listen to us. Lastly, well be playing at the Pontiac Grill with TRB on April 22nd as part of Firgurehead Productions' Thrilladelphia city wide festival thingy. Some of our show might be recorded and released on a compilation. I am tired of typing so there. A good healthy dose of Dragon City news. In other news I had a dream that I made out with a deer with a womans head. I am sufficiently freaked out about this.

Mill Creek Tavern 02/28/04

Ok, so we played this show way out in West Philly where some of us used to live. Thanks to everyone showing up, there was a super turn-out even though we had to "compete with" the Walkmen, Hollertronix and tons of other stuff. Plus it was a bar. We've never played a bar before in this sense. People go to drink and maybe listen to the band while they're there, they don't go to see the band and maybe have a drink. Lemmie tell you something, the Mill Creek Tavern has the best burger I've had in a bar ever. Serious. Nice seeded roll, huge meat patty, and the obligatory lettuce and onions. Guess what, it was less than $5, pretty good if you ask me. So anyway, the time came to where we had to play our songs. Since it was a new place and the walls still had the dry-wall showing, we figured if it was realy loud, it'd be more annoying than good. So for one night only, Dragon City turned it down to 8. I don't know if this will ever happen again, but those of you that were there saw the best sounding DC show ever. Thanks to Ben for doing the sound. What topped off the show was being able to play Mega-Touch in between bands. Everyone should have a Mega-Touch. Anyway there's a low ceiling on stage right where Chris was standing. Right before we started into the closer, "Sleeper", Chris did a rock-star jump, not remembering that the ceiling was three inches above his head. Sure enough his head put a little dent in the ceiling and he collapsed as the song started up, stood back up after yelling some explatives and played along just fine. Later that night he went to the emergency room and found he had a concussion. Hospitol bracelots are the best, vinyl and never able to be broken. After the show everyone went to Hollertronix but couldn't get in because someone started fighting, blah blah blah, you know how it is. That sucked. Anyway thanks to everyone for coming making the hike to West Philly, come see us at Doc Watson's on March 12th and we'll chill at the bar and at the Attic.

At the Khyber Oct. 8th

Rock and Roll excess is what it's all about. Kids got thrown out of the show for being underaged and sneaking in. Emo boys will never learn. On the stage, Pabst and Golden Monkey was being guzzled like water and cigarettes were burned. New song was played and even threw in a cover of "Search and Destroy." the emo kids had no idea what hit them. Anyway, great show, great times. Thanks to Ben for taking pictures of us, blinding me and forgetting how to play (well, maybe the beer did that).
