Many thanks for De Palma a la Mod for serving all the latest news on Noomi’s upcoming thriller “Passion”, directed by the one and only Brian De Palma. “Passion” will be shot exclusively in Berlin, according to an article posted today by the Tagesspiegel‘s Andreas Conrad. The original plan a year ago was to set Passion in the U.K., which meant exteriors would be shot in London, while interiors would have been done at a studio in Berlin or Cologne. But now, according to Conrad, not only will the film shoot exclusively in Berlin, but it will all be on location, meaning no studio sets. This makes the project sound all the more thrilling. Conrad states that aside from the obligatory scenes set in office suites, De Palma will shoot Passion at the Sony Center (pictured above), the Bode Museum, and the restaurant Margaux

News courtesy The Playlist. After a few stalled efforts and possible projects that didn’t quite get moving, Brian De Palma’s “Passion” is going full steam ahead, and it looks like it could be his starriest outing since “The Black Dahlia.” The film, a loose remake of Alain Corneau’s “Love Crime,” already has Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace slotted as the dueling leads, and now two more excellent actors are coming aboard. According to German site MediaBiz (via De Palma A La Mod) Dominic Cooper and Karoline Herfurth have landed roles in the film as well, though it’s not clear who they will be playing. The story, which fits right into De Palma’s pulpy wheelhouse, tweaks Corneau’s film slightly and will focus on a woman who turns to murder when a boss steals her idea. It’s basically the dream movie of anyone who has been screwed over by a superior.

According to Variety, Said Ben Said’s Paris-based production-sales outfit SBS Prods. has closed key pre-sales on Brian De Palma’s thriller “Passion,” starring Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace. Ascot Elite has acquired theatrical and DVD/VOD rights for Germany and Switzerland; Lumiere has taken Benelux while ARP will release “Passion” in France in early 2013, said Ben Said. An English-language remake of Alain Corneau’s 2010 psychodrama “Love Crime,” which Ben Said also produced, about a battle to the death between a top corporate exec and her protege, “Passion” has just added German actress Karoline Herfurth (“The Reader”) to the cast. Herfurth plays the assistant to Rapace’s deputy, McAdams the CEO. Screenplay is by De Palma, with additional dialogue by novelist Natalie Carter. Co-produced by Alfred Huermer’s Integral Film in Germany, “Passion” begins lensing in Berlin on March 5 for 10 weeks. So, despite my previous prediction, Noomi takes on the part which was played by Ludivine Sagnier in the original French film – this is going to be a challenge!

According to the DPA (Deutsche Presse Agentur), Brian DePalma’s next project, “Passion”, will start filming this March in Berlin. As previously reported, “Passion” is a remake of the French thriller “Crime d’amour” and will star Noomi Rapace, Rachel McAdams and newly-added German actress Karoline Herfurth. While Herfurth will most probably reprise the leading role that was originally played by Ludivine Sagnier, the big question is who will be playing her boss – Rapace or McAdams? Thanks to Alex for the heads-up!
