spacer Ilan Eshkeri has been hired to score the upcoming 3D animated feature Justin and the Knights of Valour. The movie is directed by Manuel Sicilia and centers on an idealistic boy who is determined to become a knight in shining armor, but his magical kingdom is in painful transition to a modern age dominated by bureaucracy. The film’s voice talent includes Freddie Highmore, Antonio Banderas, Saoirse Ronan, Julie Walters, Alfred Molina, Mark Strong, Olivia Williams and Rupert Everett. The film created by the Spanish animation production company Kandor Graphics is produced by Antonio Banderas, Kerry Fulton and Ralph Kamp for Timeless Films. Sicilia co-wrote the script with Matthew Jacobs (The Emperor’s New Groove). The project marks Eshkeri’s first animated feature film. Justin and the Knights of Valour is expected to be completed by the end of the year and will be released in theaters in 2013.

Eshkeri has just recently recorded his score for Austenland based on the novel by Shannon Hale, directed by Jerusha Hess and starring Keri Russell, JJ Feild, Bret McKenzie, Jennifer Coolidge and Jane Seymour. The composer has also worked with singer/songwriter Emmy the Great on the songs for the film. A release later this year is expected.
