Don't hold your breath but as soon as I get some time I might be upgrading "The Biff" to a new website .... but I can't promise when (it's all about making time) cheers Quigs.

IMPORTANT NOTE FROM QUIGS:

Quigs here "Ive got another bloody backlog of emails from punters.

I've been flat out with paying jobs - but I promise to get stuck into them and get them posted on the site as soon as time permits. (The Biff is a love job by me.... an old league tragic.)

Christ I was a poor bastard before the Global Economic Meltdown.

Now .... I'm just a poorer bastard. And remind me to update the Wrestler of the Month for Christs sake.

Bobby Barter is out and about at his beloved SCG every summer looking after the hallowed home room and its players - most of whom will be quick to tell you about the number one roomy in the world. His book - Behind the Green Door - is about the very best of the best and what makes them tick. Ricky Ponting aligned with Robin Hood; Harbhajan Singh and Tendulkar tales; Gillys freshly painted but unlucky green pads; Warneys last test dig scenario; and a lot lot more.

Era of the Biff

This website is dedicated to a great part of the history of the game of Rugby League. Some call it the tough times, the violent times, the era of biff. I for one enjoyed watching the 'battles' as they unfolded on the field, and absolutely drooled about rematches.

I encourage all to share their memories with others by contributing to this website. Have a look around the site, drop us a line. Be a part of the run on team.

Era of the Biff Rugby League covering League
from the 1950's through to the late 80's early 90's
and from both sides of the Equator.

The Spectator counter is down at the moment - will return soon I hope.

The Ground Record of 12,640 set in Sept 2007

I'll do the thumping and you do the thinking...

"At one point the railway ran alongside the road. That was when we realized that something big was on. There were coaches nose-to-tail all the way up to the top and down the other side with no movement at all." - Prof John Shepherd
St Augustine, Trinidad, who in 1954 was one of 103,000 plus spectators who attended the 1954 Cup Replay, played at Odsal, Warrington v Halifax

"Rugby League is a simple game played by simple people. Rugby union is a complex game played by w@nkers" - Laurie Daley.

Once a baby faced Mal Reilly told Rocky Turner he had just played a great game, Rocky said, "you don't even look like a forward" and punched him in the nose. "Now you look like a league forward" said Rocky.

Ray speaks about his dad growing up in Maroubra, old players such as Mario Fenech, Jack Rayner, Ian Moir, Hazem El-Masri, benny Elias, Clive Churchill, Kevin Longbottom, Eric Simms, jim Lisle. Ray Martin is quoted as saying Craig Coleman - he was a terrific, tough little roustabout of a player. Spud Carroll was up there too - he was the last really great player. Terry Fahey of course. But Mario was the giant of the modern era. I can understand the reasons for him leaving. It's sad when local boys have to do that. It makes you cry sometimes to see Brathan Anasta and Craig Wing run around for the opposition. Jim in company with Russell Carson and his dad Danny Duffy drove from Rockhampton to Sydney and return, a distance of over 4,000km. Dan, Duffman and Carso, must be the most dedicated Tigers supporters in League. The Era received a great email from Lyle Beaton who suggested the inclusion of the great French 2nd row pairing of Edouard Ponsinet and Elie Brousse. It was through Lyle's suggestion the the Era unearthed information on Puig Aubert, the french rugby league fullback, Bob Samatan, the french coach.
