Put on your Wonder Woman bracelets!

Written on August 19, 2011 by admin in Creativity and Transformation, creative action

spacer “But I just want to create!” you say.
Ha!
It’s time to add your creative powers to the big picture.

In case you’ve been in another dimension the last few months, we, the weather, the economy, and Homer Simpson are all going through a needed transition.
In this stage of the global process, each of us affects the big picture.
Each of us is collectively creating the future we’ll move into.
That’s why right now your calm strength and self-awareness are so important.

You are creating, and what you’re creating is much bigger than you may have realized.
You are ready for this, even if you don’t feel like it.
The bigger deeper parts of you have been preparing for these changes all of your life.

However.
If  you are like many of us, it’s hard to remember all this cosmic stuff when you’re surrounded by uncertainty and anxiety.  Please remember this: fear makes people easy to control, and solves no problems.
The question for today:
What can I do for myself, to feel more calm, powerful and effective right now?

1.Think globally, then act locally.spacer
This is not just a bumper sticker.
Pause and consider what will happen next, before acting and reacting. We are all connected.
Give a thought to what will happen to your actions as they ripple out and affect others.
to do: Next time you’re tempted to buy online, check your local small businesses first. Buy with them.
Surprisingly often, their prices are just as good. More than that, you are consciously investing in your own community, keeping the money local rather than sending it away. You’re contributing to a successful local economy. You are now entitled to the bumper sticker. Global, local, personal. You’re part of all three.

2. Your sensitivity is a power tool. Use it that way.spacer
Creative people are sensitive. Sensitive people are like dogs with good noses.
We get more information, more quickly. We get this information so we can take smart thoughtful action
Dogs with good noses are more likely to thrive, remember.
They also stay away from things that don’t smell good. Take their lead: do not force yourself into activities you know will disorient you or sap your confidence. You’d be surprised how many people do this, thinking they are being realistic. It is not realistic to know who you are and ignore your own self-knowledge.
to do: Next time you are feeling sensitive: bring your awareness down to your lower belly, to your dantien. Let all the information in. Do not personalize it. Just feel it, look at it, listen to the layers of it – then calmly decide and act.
Remember: Sensitivity = awareness of subtleties = more information and power. Use it.

3. Graze wisely at the emotional smorgasbord.
At this pivotal time, emotions are powerful and noisy.
A smorgasbord with everything on it, including things you’ve never heard of.
Many of you are ingesting feelings, reactions and images that don’t belong to you.
Once you take them in you have to digest them.
Pay attention! Go for feelings and ideas that nourish stamina and optimism.
Artists enjoy experimenting, but this is not the time for deep-fried Twinkies.
to do: Next time you feel unusually upset, angry or hurt, stop fanning the flames. Just stop, for one minute.
Check in: where were you, who were you around, what emotional confusion did you pick up. You do not have to accept it. Imagine a cool white light flowing down through your crown, and out your toes and fingers, carrying all that extra stuff with it. Breathe out, move around. Let go.
Put the Twinkie back and step away.
extra credit: Turn off the darn television and go for a walk in the woods.

4. Make sure you have time for yourself every day. This is imperative.spacer
Imagine helping someone start the battery of their car. Your battery has to be well-charged.
Taking care of others all the time, whether your family, your customers, your community, will often deplete your battery.
If you do not take time to recharge in the way most revitalizing for you, neither of your batteries will work and you’ll both be stranded. See why it is imperative?
to do: Breathe, drink water as a treat, stretch, do a little restorative yoga, go to a museum, play with dogs, make up silly songs by yourself: add to this list and tell us what you do. Make sure your battery is filled up.
extra credit: Deliberately reach out to like-minded positive others, and develop new circles for yourself.

5. Practice being a superhero.
Actually, you’re more like one than you know.
Your unusual skills will reveal themselves when you admit that you’re very good at certain things.
You must accept your superpowers to activate them.
You’ll get more from your unusual skills when you deliberately use them to benefit yourself and others. All the superheroes agree on this.
to do: Next time you are in a stressful place, breathe in deep.
Then imagine your skills turning on, trust your intention, and bring your superpowers into play.
Know you have a huge calm heart? Radiate it to nervous people around you.
Know you have a great aesthetic? Make the spaces around you into oases of beauty and peace.
Know that you love experiments and adventures? Do things others are afraid of, and show them they can calm their fears.

We’re a global community now. We’re all in this together.
That means we need you, calm, refreshed, turning on your unique sensitivities and superpowers
and using them.spacer See the bigger picture, the possibilities here, and stay focused on your unique role.
You have great individual power when you choose it.
Now would be a very good time! Co-create a good, healthy and sane life around you. I know you can do it.
If you’d like personal help with this, work with me. I have openings for two more clients. Email me for details, or go here.

Live long and prosper.
