Potted Potter is showing at the Panasonic Theatre in Toronto until March 25th. Click here to visit the official site for more details or visit TicketKing to book your seats!

In the meantime, the National Post brings is the following story about the creators of the show:

For diehard fans, the Harry Potter phenomenon consists of seven books (3,000 pages plus), eight movies (1,178 minutes) and countless hours spent standing in midnight madness lines awaiting the release of each new instalment in J.K. Rowling’s fantasy series. Now imagine trying to cram all that material — from Hogwarts to Horcruxes — into a 70-minute live performance. Surely there must be some wizardry involved.

spacer “I think 400, 500 pages of plot are chucked aside to make room for a silly hat and a funny voice,” says Daniel Clarkson, one of the two magic-mad minds behindPotted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience, a theatrical parody that recaps the entire Potter saga in the time it takes to read a few chapters. “We are able to drop things and sort of do our own interpretation of things. We do try and keep to the story as much as we can.”

Together with Jeff Turner, Clarkson re-appropriates the Hogwarts universe with the help of just a handful of wigs and props. The Potted boys, who have miraculously survived Rowling’s legal inquisition on parodies and adaptations, have travelled from London’s West End to Toronto’s Panasonic Theatre for the show’s North American debut, which kicked off this past week.
