My scanner sucks. =| Makes everything so bright and doesn’t let me adjust it. Photoshop saved some of it but still looks better in the sketchbook itself. Bawwwwww adds to long list of “when I have a lot of money and nothing to do with it”…

Been trying to learn how to draw hands. I read somewhere before that it takes 200 drawings to end up with a decent one? I’m about 30 hands in… almost 1/6 of the way LOL.

Shape, Shadow, and Renaissance

Something new in Engineering this year is this “Visual Art and Design for Engineers” … club/class/studio sorta thing. Supposed to be “studio art lessons” for Engineers, made free since it’s being paid for by the Engineering Dean or something. Trippy as hell because I’ve had so many Engineering tutorials in that classroom. +_+

There’s been 2 sessions so far but I only went to this week’s due to midterms. It’s pretty much a bit of “lecture” in the beginning and then you have drawing activities. This week’s was a brief history on Renaissance art, and then a bit about composition and -/+ space and whatnot. The activity was to get you to see the shape and different tones by drawing with one tone, then two tones, then full on blending etc. About 20minutes for each. Clearly as you can see! I do not know of single or dual tones! For shame. (I didn’t draw the third full on  blending one coz I had to run to class. ;_;) It was still enjoyable though, been a long time since I had live models to draw from. A bit more challenging than photos because some people just can’t stay still… cough.

As for the instructor/TA person, I missed the first session in which he introduced himself but it sounds like he’s an engineer who’s had a couple of artsy/design jobs. He used to be an armour smith! So cool. I kinda wished it was more studio lesson though, like giving us tips and suggestions while drawing. He just kinda sat there and watched from afar. But I guess that’s expecting too much from a free “art for engineers” club? Nonetheless it was nice seeing other engineers who liked to draw. Didn’t get to make any new friends coz I was in a hurry lol maybe next time. I wanna see if Mechanical Engineers actually draw better than us non-mechies. :P ECE REPRESENTTTT

Okay I’m done rambling. Overall, very nice environment and weekly practice. Wish they had this before I got to my last semester of school.

This guy was behind me in line for Starbucks but he had his jacket and stuff on the one couch seat left. I was looking around for a seat after I got my latte and he gave me this smug look as he comfortably sat down in his couch. WHATEVER I liked my window stool seat anyway

Doodles and WIPs lately because no time to draw. This was done on iPad on the bus to and from Toronto today (things I do for IRC) and some refining in aforementioned Starbucks stool seat. Fanart is hard man.
