Sarah Roemer "Fires Up" Cheer Camp!

Remember the hot girl living next door to Shia LaBeouf in the popular film Disturbia? Sarah Roemer was also in The Grudge 2 but you can see her starting February 20th as the head of a high school cheerleading squad; the smart and beautiful girl all the guys want to land in the crazy comedy Fired Up. This is Sarah's first comedy film and she had a blast learning to cheer and hanging out with cute and funny Nick D'Agosto and Eric Christian Olsen.
We sat down in Sarah's room at the 4 Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills to get the inside scoop on making the film, her "guilty pleasure" love of the cheer film Bring It On and which guys were the most fun to make a film with... Nick and Eric or Shia LaBeouf and Aaron Yoo of Disturbia? We're jealous because Sarah looks fantastic without make-up! For our chat she was wearing a beautiful, soft spaghetti-strap blue/purple Stella McCartney top and jeans.
TeenHollywood: Is there any cheerleading in your own background?
Sarah: Absolutely no cheering in my background. I was the farthest thing from a cheerleader when I was in high school and was never fond of cheerleaders until I worked on this movie and now I absolutely love them. The girls on my squad were dancers and real cheerleaders.

Sarah Roemer on the NEXT big dog-movie weeper-Hachiko

It's another Marley & Me, or could be-- a family-friendly faithful-dog film with an all-star cast.
Hachiko: A Dog's Story is coming later this year, and it's based on a true story--the bond between a college professor and the abandoned dog he took in. The dog would walk with him to the train station every day when he left for work, and meet him in the afternoon. One afternoon, his master doesn't return. But the faithful dog went there every day to wait for him.
Richard Gere plays the professor. Sarah Roemer plays his daughter.
"It's really a love story between this guy and his dog," she says. "A real tear-jerker. I got to work with people I think are screen icons -- Richard Gere, Joan Allen and director Lasse Hallstrom. And this great dog.
"You'll love it. But you're gonna cry! It's a beautiful, sad story."

Eric Christian Olsen didn't have to do much research to play a high school Mr. Smooth in the new comedy "Fired Up."
"It's a lot of me when I was 22 years old," he says. "You think you have things figured out. You have such strong convictions and no perspective, and at the end of Act III you find out you were completely wrong. And he thinks he's better looking than he is. Fired Up! is Wedding Crashers meets Bring It On, jokes star Eric Christian Olsen. A comic trip to cheer camp taken by a couple of high school footballers looking to score by becoming cheerleaders and being amid the hotties its not the sort of high-brow comedy that will win critical acclaim.
Its like being trapped for an hour-and-a-half in a pound full of yappy puppies, the Hollywood Reporter complained.
But we got this cool write-up on Aintitcoolnews .com, Olsen counters, laughing.
We reached Olsen (of TVs Brothers & Sisters), who plays one of the players turned playas, and Sarah Roemer (Disturbia), the star cheerleader, in Hollywood.
Q: So, who developed a newfound respect for cheerleaders while making this?

Review: Fired Up! is rah-rah-raunchy

It would be news if "Fired Up!" weren't moronic and adolescent.
A comedy about two horny high school football players who infiltrate cheerleading camp to score women couldn't possibly be anything else. It's also as you would imagine rude and crude, until it reaches its predictable and disingenuously sweet conclusion.
What's surprising, though, is that within this premise lies a streak of giddy humor that makes the whole endeavor more tolerable than it ought to be. As best friends and teammates, Nicholas D'Agosto and Eric Christian Olsen aren't your typical dumb jocks. They're quick-witted and verbal, and the way they bounce off each other with rat-a-tat dialogue that often gives "Fired Up!" an engaging energy. (The script, credited to the enigmatic Freedom Jones, is crammed with pop-culture references you might not expect but it also feels a little too self-consciously clever in that now-familiar Diablo Cody vein.) ... Bikini-clad babes and sniggering humor abound in the teen sex comedy "Fired Up!," but so do some other things: namely a charming cast, glimmers of intelligence and a sweetly youthful spirit.
You wouldn't have guessed as much from the plot. Two high-school football stars, Shawn (Nicholas D'Agosto) and Nick (Eric Christian Olsen), have seduced nearly every female classmate at Gerald R. Ford High and are hungry for fresh prey. Their solution: a summer cheerleading camp where the girls are limber and the men are mostly gay.
