The theme of SID 2012 was ‘Discovering the digital world together’ and the aim was to encourage young people to share with parents, grandparents, carers and those in the local community, the positive use of the internet and digital technology.

The key concept is that if we can ‘Connect Generations’, then parents can learn more about what their children are doing online and support and educate them with their ‘online’ life.

Over the past few months, and working with local authorities, we have been developing our support for schools. If you haven’t yet seen it, our Autumn newsletter gives lots of details about how we are developing our eSafeguarding provision. In addition, our new CPD section is the start of a new set of services which aim to provide a brokering service between those looking to support schools and schools in the region. We are putting in place a number of quality-assurance measures which will ensure that only those organisations that provide cost-effective and high-quality services will appear on the website.

The CPD online system is still in development, although it is now fully functioning and you can book places on a developing range of opportunities (both virtual and face-to-face) for CPD, development and/or consultancy. We are looking to extend our range of partners and associates to include not only local providers but also national companies who can bring a whole range of value-added services to teaching and learning in the region. We are also developing the system itself to provide more functionality which will make this website the place to start looking for support for you, your school and your learners.
