In response to the increasing interest in sustainable and productive community food gardening, Mayor Ravenstahl’s Green Up Pittsburgh Initiative, the South Side Community Council, and the South Side Slopes Neighborhood Association have collaborated to create the Community Garden Plots at Bandi Shaum (off Mission Street near S. 18th Street). Application and registration for the 2012 gardening season is open to any City resident through this online form.
The City’s Department of Public Works (DPW) is responsible for the assignment of specific garden plots. Each registrant is responsible for Plot Maintenance and Use Standards as mutually agreed upon by all parties. An agreement will be jointly signed by DPW and each garden plot “tenant”. There is no fee for application or use of these City gardening plots.
Please join the Mayor and these community groups to accelerate greening the City by submitting an application.
