Roar Educate Grapple

For SID 2012, YHGfL is pleased to announce a special discount with ROAR Educate for their parental eSafety software, Grapple. The programme gives a series of online scenarios for parents to work through, in order to gain a better understanding of eSafety issues that children might encounter. YHGfL have negotiated a fixed fee of £60, for schools to be able to buy the software and disseminate it to parents.

In addition to purchasing this software, ROAR have agreed that schools can sell the software to parents at a minimal cost, in order to cover the costs of purchasing it and to raise funds for their school.  If you are unable to run an event, then you may be interested in buying Grapple and issuing parents with a copy on 7th February 2012.

There are a number of interesting ways that schools could distribute Grapple to parents. Firstly, schools could use this as an enterprise activity for children to promote and market the sale of the software to parents. This could include designing posters and CD sleeves for Grapple along with using spreadsheets to examine the profit they could make for the school. Another suggestion could be that schools hold a parental session on eSafety and distribute the software free to those parents attending.

For further suggestions, please see Ways to use Grapple.

Finally, Grapple is aimed at PARENTS and ADULTS only. Some of the content included in the programme is not suitable for younger children as it reflects the inappropriate content that a child could access on the internet. Schools that decide to purchase Grapple and distribute to parents need to emphasise this when circulating the software to parents.
