Calon FM is the only Community FM Radio Station in Wrexham and is a perfect platform to explore how the Radio Industry works. If you have ever thought of yourself as the next Chris Moyles or Terry Wogan, this is your chance to fulfil your dreams or if you’ve ever had a desire to work behind the scenes, then you can explore that too!

Work Experience

Calon FM is able to offer work experience placements of to secondary school and university students. During your placement you have the opportunity to work with station staff and be introduced to how radio is produced; from researching guests and news stories, to mixing a live show and compiling your own features. Many of the students we have had in the past have continued to volunteer at the station and even have their own show!

Introduction to Radio

Calon FM offers an eight week ‘Introduction To Radio’ course to give you an insight into the skills required to produce a radio show. You will learn about script writing, playout systems, programme production, presenting and learn how to practically produce a radio show. The training is offered as an evening course and runs at numerous times throughout the year. All learning materials are supplied and there is no cost associated with the training.

Week 4 – Playback Systems

Week 5 – Interview Technique

Week 6 – Radio News Production

Week 7 – Production Exercise

Week 8 – Production Exercise

The course will supply you with the knowledge and experience required for you to be an active member of the Calon FM production team.

Mae llawer o’n hen fyfyrwyr wedi parhau i wirfoddoli’n yr orsaf ac yn cael eu sioe eu hun hyd yn oed.

Cyflwyniad i Radio

Mae Calon FM yn  cynnig cwrs 8 wythnos “ Cyflwyniad i Radio” i rhoi cipolwg i chi am y sgiliau sy’n anghenrheidiol i gynhyrchu sioe radio. Basech chi’n dysgu am ysgrifennu sgript, sustemau “Playout”, cynhyrchu rhaglenni, cyflwyno a sut i gynhyrchu sioe radio’n ymarferol.  Cynnigir yr hyfforddiant fel cwrs nos a maen  nhw’n cael eu rhedeg am wahanol amserau’n ystod y flwyddyn. Mae’r defnydd dysg yn cael ei darparu a does dim cost am yr hyfforddiant.
