Welcome to Stockholm!

The magnificent city of Stockholm, strategically located between the Baltic Sea and Lake Mälaren, has captured many a visitor’s heart. Situated on 14 islands linked by 57 bridges, the city boasts 38 parks, 70 museums, more than 100 art galleries and a countless number of cafes and restaurants, all of which help give Stockholm its very special character. The unique combination has earned Stockholm many affectionate nicknames, including “The Venice of the North”, “The City between the Bridges”, and “Beauty by the Water”.
The city’s nightlife, cuisine, shopping opportunities, ambience, architecture and friendly multi-lingual population create an enchanting, almost seductive atmosphere.

No stay in Stockholm would be complete without visits to Skansen, the world’s oldest open-air museum and Vasa Museum, home of the world-famous royal warship Vasa. Both are located on the island of Djurgården. Another sight worth seeing is Millesgården, a wonderful sculpture park on Lidingö. It was once the residence of Carl Milles, one of Sweden’s greatest sculptors, and besides the beautiful garden filled with Milles’ works, it also features a museum, an art gallery and a café bistro.

Stadshuset (the City Hall), with its majestic tower adorned with three gold crowns, is situated on the banks of Lake Mälaren. Don’t miss the celebrated Golden Hall and the Blue Hall where the Nobel banquet takes place. If time permits, spend some time at Kungliga Slottet (The Royal Palace), its museums and gift shop. The Changing of the Guards is a particular favourite among visitors and residents alike. During the winter, you can see this colourful event on Wednesday and Saturdays at 12:10pm, as well as on Sundays at 1:10pm. In the summer time daily at 12:10pm, Sundays at 1:10pm.

If you are looking for perfect spot from which capture Stockholm’s beauty in photographs, we recommend Fjällgatan on Södermalm, where you will be rewarded with a splendid view of the city. The tower at City Hall, Kaknästornet and Solliden on Djurgården, and the islands of Skeppsholmen and Riddarholmen also offer stunning panoramas and perfect photo opportunities.
