The Olivier Awards 2012 with MasterCard celebrates links between New York and London

The 36th ceremony takes place at the Royal Opera House for the first time in its entirety on Sunday 15 April 2012, hosted by West End stars Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton, with extensive live coverage on television (via the Red Button), on Radio 2 and online, with red carpet coverage from 5pm and the Ceremony starting at 6pm.

The awards will include unique theatrical entertainment created especially for the occasion with music throughout from the BBC Concert Orchestra.

There will also be a Free public event in Covent Garden piazza with live show relay and West End performances. An awards celebration, theatre-lovers can gather to enjoy a free big-screen live show relay and other entertainment including live performances from some of the West Ends major shows. The event will be presented in conjunction with Magic 105.4, and hosted by breakfast presenter Neil Fox, alongside West End leading lady Louise Dearman.

The nominees announcement at the Mayfair Hotel will also be streamed live online on 15th March 2012 simultaneously at
www.olivierawards.com.

Once again, in 2012, BBC Radio 2 also partners with the Olivier Awards on the BBC Radio 2 Audience Award, to launch on the Elaine Paige show on Sunday 5th February 2012. VOTE NOW.

In an exciting new development for 2012, there will be a live show relay to a New York celebration of the awards where an invited audience of VIPs including British stars on Broadway and high profile industry figures will gather to celebrate the awards.

Established in 1976, the Laurence Olivier Awards celebrate the world-class status of Londons theatre and are Britains most prestigious stage honours.

Meredith Braun: Someone Else's Story


Since 1990 Meredith has been considered one of the West End's brightest stars, originating and recording roles such as 'Betty Schaeffer' in 'Sunset Boulevard', 'Lily' in the RSC's 'The Secret Garden' and playing the iconic roles of 'Eponine' in 'Les Misrables' and 'Christine' in 'The Phantom of the Opera'

After a ten year absence, Meredith returns to performing with the release of her debut solo album on March 26th, 2012. 'Someone Else's Story' is a hand-picked collection of songs from contemporary musical theatre, each one of them telling a very personal story.

Composers include Stephen Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Michel Legrand, Claude Michel-Schonberg, Stiles and Drewe and Stephen Schwartz.

This stunning, intimate collection features Arrangements and Musical Direction by Paul Bateman (Musical Director for Sarah Brightman, Lesley Garrett) and was recorded at London's Angel Studios between September - December 2011.

Dance students involved in Tree of Light project

Students of dance (aged 16+), or dancers at an early stage in their careers are currently being sought by the Tree of Light project to help put together a fantastic series of performances due to take place in June and July this year. Tree of Light is a Community Celebration set up along the River Thames to celebrate the summer of 2012. Workshops are just beginning to rehearse the 1,200 dancers from various groups across Windsor, Slough, Maidenhead, Oxford, Reading and Henley. The project is hoping as many dance students as possible will come forward to work with the community dancers and polish their performance.

Work has already been going on in the form of various workshops, with ten groups in each of the Reading, Oxford, Henley and Windsor areas taking part. Dance assistants will assist and support their designated Choreographer and will be asked to commit approximately 3 days per month over 5 months (February July 2012).
