Good gracious, blog is bodacious.

About

Hello there! Welcome to my about page, where I am herein required to (at least pretend to) discuss the who, what, and wait, why? of this site. (This is an unwritten blog rule, you see. And those who break the rules are subject to stoning with strong-smelling spam. Or so I hear.)

So, hello again! I’m Kerri (Anne) Ladish.

On any given day, I probably look something like this:

When I’m giving Montana a piece of my mind, I probably look something like this:

I started this online endeavor on Thursday, June 24th, 2004, as a way of keeping myself consistently writing while working full-time and finishing my undergraduate degree. The noble and lofty goal: Be mildly entertaining and articulate on a daily weekly quarterly semi-regular basis. I’m simultaneously thrilled and frightened I’ve been maintaining this site, and the content herein, (mostly) consistently for SEVEN years.

As to some general specifics of me, I have a degree in English Literature and Sociology, which I think in Real World Speak translates to me being (a nerd, yes, fair, and) destined to be living in a van down by the river, writing prolific prose on napkins picked up from the tables I wait. I’m mostly OK with that. (Storytelling via napkins? Actually kind of fun. You should try it.)

In the past few years I’ve perused the non-profit and environmental sectors, type of work including but not limited to: grant-writing, freelance writing/editing, office managing, being really really ridiculously good looking.*

I love being barefoot, finding sand in my pockets, making lists, mountain views, saying what I mean when I mean it, trails under my feet, the Realist and Naturalist movements in American Literature, giving great hugs, keeping my nose stuck in a book, drinking tasty beer, running, drinking more tasty beer after running, smiling at the rain, writing in handmade notebooks, throwing a frisbee at my little sis, showing everyone how my niece is the cutest kid in all the land, water I can swim in (especially if it’s Priest Lake), singing in the car, telling horrible pun-laden jokes, and watching/quoting/talking about movies.

My family and friends are some of the most fantastic of all people to have ever existed (no, really), and as such, I laugh a lot. (No, I mean A LOT.)

If I ruled the world you would be able to have at least two selves, one of which could be reading at all times, thus providing me ample time to read Moby-Dick once a week. Also, water would refill itself in your glass, Arrested Development would never have been canceled, Community would be a required daily staple, I would be able to do long-division in my head, and every person on the planet would be happy in their own skin.

I someday plan to traipse the entire Pacific Crest Trail and remember how to speak French. (These two things will most likely not be happening simultaneously.)

*Making playful reference to Zoolander. If you didn’t smirk, or have no idea what I’m talking about, PLEASE, I beg of you, rent and watch that movie. Or email me. I’ll mail you a copy. I’m helpful like that.
