Sherwood Dog Park of Paso Robles
"Where Dogs Take Flight"
Paso Robles dogs and their families have long wanted an off-leash dog park in Paso Robles. Paso Robles is the only city in San Luis Obispo County without an off leash dog park; dog owners must drive to the neig hboring communities of Templeton and Atascadero.
Parks4Pups, a non-profit organization established in 2004, has leased a site adjacent to Sherwood Park in Paso Robles for a fenced off-leash dog park on city property. Parks4Pups is responsible for building successful dog parks in Atascadero and Templeton and maintaining walking trails in Paso Robles and Templeton.
The Paso City Council approved the Sherwood Park location and lease in November 2011. The dog park is currently under construction as of March 1, 2012 with an expected opening date in Spring 2012.
Our dog park will have the following amenities:
- 1.25 acres in size, cross fenced for separate big dog and small dog play areas
- Perimeter fencing will be 5 feet in height with a post and beam wood construction similar to existing fencing in the open space area and in other North County dog parks. Interior cross-fencing will be 4 feet in height.
- Ground cover of recycled wood chips
- Two double gate entrances and 2 drive gate entrances
- One arbor-style shade structure approximately 24' x 36’
- Two information kiosks
- Two concrete pads for water drinking areas
- Multiple picnic tables and park benches
- ADA accessible entrance and walkways
- Trees and landscaping to provide shade and view screening to match existing native plantings
- Toolshed for supplies and trash enclosure
