Brecon Beacons Summer Fayre
The other day I calculated that during my lifetime I have driven, or in my younger days been driven, through the Brecon Beacons almost a thousand times. But never have I stopped to take a look at this magnificent National Park.

Alas at this present moment it is not the time to put the walking boots on and head for the hills, but I did spot that this past weekend the National Park Mountain Centre was hosting the Brecon Beacons Summer Fayre. This seemed like a good place to at least dip a toe in the water of the Beacons (although that idiom might be best reserved for the sea-bounding Pembrokeshire Coast National Park).

A Quick Lunch at the Harbourmaster
On Saturday while enroute to collect six new hens near New Quay we found ourselves with an hour to spare in Aberaeron. It was lunchtime and we were all feeling peckish.
There are a whole battery of eateries in this multicoloured seaside town including The Hive and the ever faithful Celtic Fish and Chip shop but one I’d been wanting to try for a while is the Harbourmaster.

In Search of Dylan T & the Disappointing Chinese
I hadn’t realised before how close Laugharne is to Carmarthen – only 11 miles away in fact.
So after a Saturday afternoon shopping session in M&S we decided to take a quick side trip to Laugharne. I’d been meaning to visit Laugharne for some years. Partly out of ideal curiosity as one of my designers had once told me it was his favourite place in Wales, and partly as I was keen to take a peek in Dylan Thomas’s Boathouse.

A brief taste of the West Wales Food Festival
Wales hosts and boasts a great roster of food festivals through the year. The season kicked off this past weekend with a mini food fest at the National Botanic Garden of Wales.
I guessed the West Wales Food Festival wasn’t going to be a Premiership food fest but the chance for another visit to the Botanic Gardens combined with the opportunity to sample some fine Welsh foods was not to be passed up.
