ActingLAB
Whether you fancy picking up a new hobby or would like focused acting training from industry professionals, ActingLAB, our friendly and supportive weekly drama class, is open to all.
Run by theatre professionals, ActingLAB offers training on all aspects of theatre performance and production, through practical based work.
During the first ActingLAB term the sessions will concentrate on developing your skills ready for a public performance later in the course.
The focus for the spring term will be writing, monologues, duologues and theatre shorts for performance. Leading the sessions will be a number of guest tutors including Punam Ramchurn – writer and Senior Literature Officer for OMBC, and directors from Manchester’s 24:7 Theatre Festival.
It is intended that some of the pieces produced will feature in an evening of new writing at UCO, hosted as part of Wordsmith12 which is running from 4 – 12 May 2012.

Full Circle
Full Circle is a friendly and welcoming group for anyone over 50 who fancies trying new things and meeting new people.
Once a fortnight Full Circle come together for a day of three creative sessions, including talks and activities from choir singing, dancing classes and book clubs, through to making their own pantomime at Christmas.

ReadIT
ReadIT is Oldham Coliseum’s book club with a theatrical twist. Once a fortnight ReadIT get together to explore a wide variety of scripts, from Greek tragedies to postmodern plays. You will read extracts from each script, and discuss the background and context of the play, as well as discuss the ways in which it could be taken from page to stage.

‘In Conversation With’ Kevin Shaw
Join Kevin Shaw, the Coliseum’s Artistic Director, every month as he talks to actors, directors, designers and writers about their work and careers. Each ‘In Conversation With’ will focus on a Coliseum production, beginning on 11 January 2012 with writer and actor, Fine Time Fontayne, who plays the Dame in the Coliseum’s annual pantomime.
