Election Administration Dataset

This is the dataset that drives the the Organizer's Guide to Election Administration. We are making it available to all.

We only ask that you attribute the data to NOI and encourage you to drop us a line (data@neworganizing.com) and tell us what you are up to.

Some notes on this file:

• Data is delivered in a tab delimited text file.
• The file is updated daily to reflect what is actually live in our database.
• Some items of text in the "fact" column are formatted using Markdown. Markdown is readable as plain text and also easy to turn into html if you are building an application that requires more mainstream markup.
• The most widely used special character in the dataset is the section symbol, §, used in most citations of legal sources in the guide. This symbol appears as the html entity "§" when opening the dataset in programs including excel and textedit. Be aware of any issues with this symbol while using the data.

OGEA API

We have (and are actively developing) an API for this data. Currently in the alpha-stage, the one call allows you to get the election information based on a state. For example, this GET request will return all the election information for Kansas in JSON format:

elections.neworganizing.com/api/KS/
