Short Story Month 2011: Flywheel Magazine
So far for Short Story Month, I’ve been highlighting individual pieces, but today I feel the need to feature an entire issue: Issue One of the brand new Flywheel Magazine.
The work in this debut issue is outstanding. Flash Fiction by Aubrey Hirsch, Brian Oliu, xTx, and many others. Short stories with jelousy-worthy titles: “Tuna for the Apocalypse”, “REDNECK SHOOTS DOWN FLYING SAUCER!!!!!!!”, and “I Will Kill All the Darth Vaders”. Plus great non-fiction and poetry.
A story that I paricularly like is the flash piece “Goldfish” by Alexandra N. Kontes:
“When my sister Lisa was in the fifth grade, she swallowed Mrs. Finch’s goldfish on a dare, and charged all the boys five cents to see the fish swimming around inside her stomach, and since she was willing to show them for just a nickel, they were willing to look, and suddenly, all the boys knew her name, and she was happy…”

Thanks so much for featuring us! It’s always a treat to know who read and enjoyed our debut.
It was a great issue, Devan. I look forward to reading more.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Hazel.
No problem. Thanks for writing the piece.
Just saw this–thanks for liking my title. I hope the story is as good (but I’m not sure).
