Blizzard Beach Disney Tickets

The first thing you’ll notice when you approach Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is the snow-capped mountains and ski lifts. Located in the heart of Florida, Disney’s Blizzard Beach is a ski-themed water park. The premise is this: According to legend, there was a freak snowstorm some years ago, which prompted some enterprising folks to construct Florida’s first (and only) ski resort. The snow didn’t last long, of course, but left behind were ski jumps, chair lifts, and other accoutrements of a ski resort. Because the snow melted, all of the items at the resort were covered in water. As the resort was being closed down after this colossal failure, an alligator was suddenly spotted sliding down a flume and splashing into a huge puddle of water. The ski resort was changed into a water park, and that lucky alligator became a mascot of the water park and named Ice Gator.

Disney’s Blizzard Beach is one of two water parks within Walt Disney World Resort and home to one of the world’s tallest and fastest free-falling waterslides. This attraction, aptly called Summit Plummet, is the equivalent of a 12-story drop down the face of “Mount Gushmore.” To make it easy for guests to find their way around the park, Mount Gushmore has been split into three colored slopes: Purple Slope, Red Slope, and Green Slope.

In addition to the exciting colored slopes of Mount Gushmore, there are several Ground-Floor attractions at Blizzard Beach including Melt-Away Bay wave pool and a lazy river attraction called Cross Country Creek. There are also water play areas for small children and another area for pre-teen kids as well.

If this sounds like an awful lot of action for one place, it sure is. But you can be assured that safety is the number-one priority at Blizzard Beach. Highly trained and qualified lifeguards are on duty over the course of the day patrolling the Water Park. All Disney lifeguards must complete a thorough training program that exceeds most national standards.

What better way to enjoy the perfect Florida weather than by riding a ski lift to the top of “snow capped” Mount Gushmore in your bathing suit? Blizzard Beach is the perfect place to cool off during your trip to Central Florida.
