psycopg 2.0.5 released

After just a couple of weeks here is psycopg 2.0.5, fixing all the open tickets in the Trac and applying all patches (except the cancellation ones) sent to the mailing list.

psycopg 2.0.4 released

This is a hurried-up release to fix a little nasty bug introduced in 2.0.3. If you're experimenting problems when fetching NULL floats from the database (and I can assure you that you are, the bug is there) make sure to upgrade to 2.0.4.

psycopg 2.0.3 released

Third point release for psycopg 2 (now the official, stable and supported branch of psycopg.) This release fixes some little buglets in time interval conversion, the copy_from method and a memory leak.

psycopg 2.0.2 released

Second point release for psycopg 2 (now the official, stable and supported branch of psycopg.) This release fixes a major problem with arrays (sometimes the last element was missing after a PostgreSQL to Python conversion) and a couple of string memory allocation buglets.

psycopg 2.0.1 released

The first point release of psycopg 2.0 is out. This just fixes a version problem in ZPsycopgDA that made the Product unloadable by Zope.

psycopg 2.0 released!

psycopg 2.0 is here. To be honest some last minor patches and fixes went in mostly untested so I wanted to release another beta but given the fact that some pretty big projects are still using psycopg 1 only because "psycopg 2 is still in beta" I decided to go for the real one.

psycopg 2 has been used in production environments for the last 1.5 years and has proven to be very stable, even more stable than current 1.1.x and much more stable than 1.1 when it was released. This is to say that, even if there can be some minor glitches (a couple of non-verified or low-priority bug reports are still open in the Trac) psycopg 2 is now _the_ psycopg to go. (Yes, this means that you, and you know who you are, shall port that project to psycopg 2 without compatibility layer.)

This release fix some buglets (see ChangeLog) and adds support for the new escape code in libpq, fixing the security problem for PostgreSQL versions >= 8.1.4 (and you, yes, you again, shall port that project etc. or do you want to stay vulnerable?)

Also, the table browsing in the Zope adapter was removed; it will be added in a future point release, when I find the time to make it work (nobody will miss it anyway, I suppose.)

SVN email notification

We now have the svnmailer script installed. It is used to generate commit notifications for psycopg (they go to the initd-commits mailing list) but can also be used for every other initd.org SVN repository. Just drop me (fog@initd.org) a mail if you need help setting up email notification using svnmailer.

SVN switch

We just switched all the SVN repositories to a new scheme involving ssh for commits only. The old URLs, e.g., initd.org/svn/psycopg are still valid for anonymous read-only access, but to get write (commit) privileges ssh is required. The new URL scheme is:

svn+ssh://initd.org/svn/PATH

where PATH is your old repository path. A fresh checkout or an "svn switch --relocate" is necessary to definitely switch to the new commit method. Comments, bug reports and mail-bombs to the usual address, please.
