2012 APSA Africa Workshop: Call for Applications
July 15-27, 2012 | University of Botswana, Gaborone

APSA and the University of Botswana are pleased to announce a call for applications from individuals who would like to participate in a workshop on “Local Communities and the State in Africa,” including a special focus on field research methods, from July 15-27, 2012 in Gaborone, Botswana.
The deadline for applications is March 30, 2012.

The 2012 APSA Africa Workshop will be led by Professors Parakh Hoon (Virginia Tech), Lauren MacLean (Indiana University), Joseph Mbaiwa (Okavango Research Institute, University of Botswana, Maun Campus), Sethunya Mosime (University of Botswana, Gaborone Campus), and Lungisile Ntsebeza (University of Cape Town).

Beginning in July 2012, the editorial leadership of the American Political Science Review will shift to John Ishiyama, Marijke Breuning, Steven Forde, and Valerie Martinez-Ebers of the University of North Texas. APSA Task Force Releases Report on Political Science in the 21st Century

The APSA Task Force on Political Science in the 21st Century has releasesd its final report. The report focuses on two main questions:

  1. Is political science positioned to embrace and incorporate the changing demographics, increasing multicultural diversity, and ever-growing disparities in the concentration of wealth present in many nation-states?
  2. Can political science do so within its research, teaching, and professional development?

The Task Force was convened by Dianne M. Pinderhughes, APSA President (2007-2008), and is co-chaired by Luis Ricardo Fraga, University of Washington, and Terri M. Givens, University of Texas at Austin.
