With funding from the LSC TIG program, OSLSA and Pro Bono Net offer in-person trainings on HotDocs for the LawHelp Interactive community twice a year. These trainings are free to participating legal aid programs and their court partners.

The next training is being planned towards the end of summer 2012. More information will be posted here in late May. The information for the first training of the year is shared below.

Winter 2012 HotDocs & A2J Training

Date: January 9-10, 2012

Location: Albuquerque New Mexico, Embassy Suites Hotel

This year the training will happen two days before LSC's TIG Conference. Many thanks LSC for providing us a training site in coordination with the LSC TIG conference. The site is the Embassy Suites Hotel. For more information about the TIG conference go to: tig.lsc.gov/tigconferencesystem.php

Description
The training will have one beginner track for people who are new to HotDocs and A2J Author. An advanced track is being developed with help from those requesting advanced training. The training will be taught by Capstone Practice Systems and the Center for Access to Justice and Technology at Chicago-Kent.

Beginners training: This is a two-day training. We generally start at 9 am and end at 5:30 pm each day. Please arrive in New Mexico the night before (January 8th). The room where we will convene on Monday is AGAVE.

Advanced training: We are sponsoring this track. We generally start at 9 am and go to 4 pm on the second day of the training, Tuesday, 1/10/2012 . You should be familiar creating templates and will ask some background questions to assess if you will benefit from this track as part of the registration process. If you have never posted a template to LHI, or created a full template, please sign up for the beginners track. Having sat through one training before does not pre-qualify you as an advanced developer. You need to have some serious hands on experience to make this workshop helpful and worth while. Otherwise you may end up playing catch up or asking a lot of basic questions, which will inhibit the learing of the other attendees. The advanced training does not cover basic skills. You need a strong working understanding of both HotDocs and A2J Author 4.0 to participate fully. The room where will convene on Tuesday is PINON.

Registration
Registration is now closed. You are not registered until you receive email confirmation from Pro Bono Net staff. Once you are registered for the training, please check this website for updates.

Logistics
Please do not make any travel arrangements until you get a registration confirmation email from either Sem Philippe or Claudia Johnson at Pro Bono Net.

Participants are responsible for their own travel, lodging, and meal costs.

Those attending TIG under an LSC TIG grant will need to coordinate their travel with Bernie from LSC. When contacting Bernie, please indicate the additional hotel nights needed when you register for the TIG conference. You will be responsible for paying any additional hotel room nights beyond the three covered by the TIG award.

Those attending the training outside of a TIG grant can still benefit from the Legal Services Corporation TIG Conference rate. The room rates are: $81/single and $101/double. This includes Internet access in sleeping rooms, breakfast and evening manager's reception.

Please note that if you are attending both the LHI training and the TIG training you need to register for both events separately.

The hotel has setup a special website for TIG Conference Registration: bit.ly/TIG2012Hotel
Attendees may also make reservations by phone, calling 1-800-EMBASSY. Ask for the LSC TIG rate.

Transportation
Ground transportation is provided by a number of vendors from the airport to the hotel. One such company is Sunport Shuttle. They can be reached at www.sunportshuttle.com or by phone at (505) 883-4966 or (866) 505-4966. The shuttle costs $11 one-way or $20 round-trip. Another is the Albuquerque Cab Company at (505) 883-4888. Cab fare is approximately $20.

Dinner plains for Monday: We are working with New Mexico Lega Aid's Carol Garner to come up with an informal, voluntary, and social dinner plan for Monday night. Allison will be sharing the logistics at around the 1st or second break on day one. If you are an advanced developer and you know you will arrive in time to join for dinner, please let Allison know so she can count in the reservation count and include you in the bus/shuttle/van/ride logistics. This is optional and you don't need to join if you have other plans (game, etc).

Questions?
Please email Allison McDermott if you have any logistics questions (where, what, who?) who will be the Pro Bono Net staff attending the training at amcdermott@probonolnet. If you want to find out if you are registered, email Claudia Johnson at cjohnson@probono.net
