In the field of neuro-rehabilitation, the challenges came about as the result of traumatic injuries to the brain or spinal cord. In the field of crisis and trauma counseling, they resulted from the psychological and emotional impact of crime and disaster.
His work has carried him into the heart of events you watched unfold on the evening news; catastrophic events such as the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, and the 9/11/01 attacks on the World Trade Center. When your morning paper noted that a team of crisis counselors had been called in to assist in the wake of a tragic event, Randy may have been among that group.

Randy is a graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. He is a board certified expert in traumatic stress, a diplomate of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, and a licensed or certified trainer for a number of state, national and international organizations. He is called upon by state and federal agencies, associations, businesses and corporations as a subject matter expert, assisting in the development of training curricula, lesson plans, presentation materials, and serving as a facilitator in train-the-trainer and trainer-development programs. He has written numerous articles and is the co-author of one of the most highly regarded books available on the subject of critical incident response. Randy, his wife, and their 17 year-old son reside near Austin, TX.
