High-Intensity Communication Skills

Our interpersonal communications with clients or customers, employers or employees, spouses and significant others or even with complete strangers involves something that we do very naturally and instinctively: talking and listening. But effective, objective-based communication is something more than that. It represents a science that requires a comprehension of the emotional, cognitive, physiological, psychological, and mechanical intricacies of human interaction.

Those who have attended Randy’s courses often remark that they learned more in a matter of hours than they had in other two- or three-day, similarly styled courses. The difference is Randy’s experience and his unique ability to convey that insight in a manner that keeps participants engaged, involved, and receptive. Randy’s instruction has equipped professionals throughout the United States with the skills necessary to resolve the issues of an irate customer or client, to effectively neutralize the intensity of a volatile situation, and to establish avenues of communication in order to bring about a resolution to conflict.

Managing Workplace Conflict

Note: This is a prescribed course of the Mediation Training Institute, International (MTI). Randy is one of the Institute’s Certified Trainers.

It has been well-established that mediation consistently resolves 90% of workplace conflicts successfully. Unresolved conflict, on the other hand, may be costing your organization thousands of dollars. (We offer a free assessment and can pin-point the actual cost within your organization). Additionally, resolving conflict within your organization can increase productivity, decrease employee sick time, and enhance the quality of your organization’s interactions with the public and with your clients and customers.

Managing Workplace Conflict can be presented in either two or three modules.

  • Module One: Necessary Knowledge introduces the concepts of mediation and conflict resolution, offering the participant a fundamental understanding of how and why the techniques work.
  • Module Two: Successful Conflict Conversations delves deeper into the concepts, and demonstrates the techniques for resolving conflicts conversationally.
  • Module Three: Third-Party Resolutions provides supervisors and HR professionals with the tools and techniques necessary to assist others in resolving conflict.

A one-day presentation of the course may include modules one and two, or modules one and three. However, managers and supervisors are strongly encouraged to take advantage of all three modules in a two-day format to better prepare them to apply these tools in the workplace.

The core coursework and the participant materials were developed by the Mediation Training Institute International, one of the most highly regarded providers of conflict resolution and mediation training and support services in the world. All training modules adhere to MTI prescribed content, but they are presented with a special consideration for the nature of conflicts within your organization or business.

In addition to applying his unique experience and background in the area of interpersonal communications to this course, Randy offers a wealth of insight into the process of facilitating effective communication, even in the most difficult situations. In addition to his certification with MTI, Randy is a Certified Mediator in Crimes of Severe Violence; a unique program that brings victims of violent crime and their respective offenders to the table in a structured dialogue. Randy is also trained in the U.S. Department of Justice model of conflict resolution.
